Movie Discussion Thread Vol. 2
Border was released in 1997 when United Front Government was in power led by HD Dev Gowda as PM made with support of Coliation partners along with Congress giving only outside support, but in 1997 Congress pulls support forcing government to fall. So technically Congress was not in power. Safarosh was released in 1999 when BJP was in power under leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. You think congress in power will allow movies like Kashmir files, Bengal files and Dhurandhar to be released? You damn well know. They wont lol. Their main vote bank will be outraged. Also Aamir Khan said this in an interview - Aamir Khan Says CBFC Barred ‘Pakistan’ in Films Before 1998 https://www.patrika.com/en/entertainment-news/aamir-khan-says-cbfc-barred-pakistan-in-films-before-1998-19676982 "Aamir Khan on the Censor Board: Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, recently made a significant revelation on the TV show 'Aap Ki Adalat'. He revealed that before 1998, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) banned the mention of Pakistan and its intelligence agency, the ISI, in Indian films. Filmmakers were forced to use the term 'neighbouring country' instead of Pakistan in contexts related to terrorism". *** -

Not True. Border Sarfarosh to name a few… were during Congress Governments but still depicted Pakistan in treacherous bad light. -
