True but its not about movie being average. There are a lot of decent movies which would have earned much more before pandemic. Its just that people either want to watch a movie or they don't. That casual movie going crowd, which used to go to theaters and watch any semi interesting that is playing, has reduced drastically.
I recently had a guy trying to flex on a group of girls, by having the great idea of talking loudly (like intentionally loud) and taking video calls in the middle of the movie. Just to flex he could do what he pleases. I had to finally ask him to speak softer, but that's not a pleasant experience when you are out to chill
Other times its crying kids that have been brought into A rated movies. OTT is far more convenient, heck id even happily pay 500 to rent the movie at home
Don't forget short form content consumption through reels and YT shorts. People have no reason to leave the house and spend money on tickets and travel on a below average /average film.
