Playstation Vita will launch in the US and Europe in 2012, Sony has revealed. This news comes as a huge blow to people desperately waiting to get their hands on the handheld this year, although, there is an option to import it from Japan, as Vita is confirmed to be region free.
Kaz Hirai said that this shouldn’t be called a delay as they wanted to be ready with the requisite software for a good launch. He was unfazed by the recent Nintendo 3DS price cut and said, “We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable.”
“There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”
More information like hardware specifications and launch titles for the PS Vita will be revealed at Gamescom and TGS.
