The Wolfy among us
I hated organic chemistry. Loved the practicals though. Especially chromyl chloride test.
Right
Gallium is a metal that melt at room temperature. Sulfure Hexafluoride is the opposite of Helium and can make your voice deep. Its also heavy enough to make solid object float on it. Hydrophobic surface. The water is trapped. Hydrophobic Sand Sodium polyacrylate absorbs 300 times water than its mass, used in diapers. I love this science.
Sackboy
Have already seen/known this stuff but still repped, the gifs are nice
Sackboy
BTW are you sure that last gif is sodium polyacrylate? I doubt it.
Right
Ya it could be Hydrogen Peroxide, google got me that This one for certain is Sodium polyacrylate
Nemo
what about Sodium Acetate or Hot ice. Amongst all the crazy and lovable science absurdities, this is one anyone can actually make at home, by anyone i mean people who are not working in or have access to high performing labs on a daily basis. Ice man imma gonna try this out this summer once exams get done.
Sackboy
Ya it could be Hydrogen Peroxide, google got me that This one for certain is Sodium polyacrylate But this one is fast forwarded a lot
Nemo
Gallium is a metal that melt at room temperature. I love this science. This should be Gallium the metal that melts slightly above room temperature. if it were to melt at room temp, the spoon would not be formed unless you happen to do the experiment of stir-dissolve in a cold storage. Nemo
here is one more- Memory metal. Nitinol or nickle titanium, a metal that when exposed to hot liquid- water in most cases, bends back to its previous shape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7jjqXh7bB4
Nemo
EDIT: the above nitinol does not require a hot liquid, any sort of heating would do, but a stream of hot water is easiest to apply. EDIT 2. I love this sciency stuff, had stored a lot of such experiments a few years ago in some usb i cant remember :| these 2 are just off the top of my mind. Sackboy
Anyone follows vsauce ? Pretty interesting sometimes but its too much for the layman , I mostly already know what he's talking about , numberphile and minutephysics are great too .
