Genre: Strategy (City building/Trade sim)

Platform: PC

Developer: Related Designs

Publisher: Ubisoft

Release Date: June 2009

Summary:

Anno 1404 is a sequel to Anno 1701 and is the latest installment in the long running Anno series. Anno combines the traditional city building gameplay from games like Caesar, Zeus and Pharoah with heavy emphasis on trade and economy. There is a vast variety of buildings to build, raw materials to harvest and goods to produce and trade. Anno 1404 features gorgeous visuals and an amazingly well-designed user interface which make the micromanagement involved in the game a breeze.

Unlike it's predecessor Anno 1404 actually features a full-fledged campaign mode with a well-presented story. Also new to the series is the inclusion of Oriental buildings which add a lot of depth to the gameplay as they give you access to unique goods and Nomad settlements. However, the real charm of the game comes from it's highly customizable Continuous Play mode where you can set your own goals and play at your own pace spending hour after hour watching your city grow and your coffers fill with Gold coins.

Awesome, game is awesome!

Just don't get addicted to it (like I am right now). Games like these should come with a warning label.

@bul: I might do it if baba dench doesn't get his review copy working soon.

^^ Nope. At least not yet.

BTW, the game seems almost limitless when it comes to advancement. I've been playing a continuous game for about four days now. My cities just seem to grow and grow with new buildings and options getting unlocked every time I advance. The amount of stuff you can manufacture and produce is also almost double of what you could in Anno 1701.

Another great thing is how well the production lines work once you set them up properly. You rarely ever have to monitor each and every one of them letting you focus on expanding and trading to your heart's content.
