It depends on person to person, if you're enjoying the game genuinely you'll automatically scan every bits of the map, discover secrets and even solve them. I know people who rushes the game (even if they say they don't) they end up missing many good parts of the game. Looking at guides nullify that sense of engagement and surprises.
