Bungie’s team-based extraction shooter Marathon is set to release on September 23, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, the developer has announced.
“In Marathon, you’ll choose from a roster of Runners with unique abilities, stats, and styles,” Bungie’s Nikki Brown wrote on the PlayStation Blog. “While each Runner brings their own flare, they’re also a foundation for you to customize your playstyle. To do so, you’ll collect implants and other equipment during your runs that you can use to augment your Runner and dial them into how you want to play.”
Bungie has also announced that a closed Alpha for Marathon would be taking place later this month.
Marathon is Sony’s latest live-service play following the disastrous launch and subsequent cancellation of Concord. Unlike many multiplayer-only live service title, Marathon will be a full-price game rather than free-to-play.
