SNAKEBALL

Snakeball sees you donning your disco shoes to glide across the dance floor on a 'hoversnake' while collecting colored balls to score points. Other players can rapidly reduce your point tally by flicking you with their tails or blasting you with weapons. For that personal touch, the PlayStation Eye USB camera can be used to snap a picture of your face and map it onto your rider.

PAIN

Cause pain for points in this scar-inducing downloadable game! The core, unique mechanic of the game allows the player to load a character into an extreme launching device, such as a human-sized, ultra-powerful slingshot, and fire the character into an active, physics-controlled environment, filled with precarious and humorous situations. The player receives points by stringing together painful collisions and inducing chaos in the environment. The player must achieve a wide variety of goals and / or reach various scoring milestones in each of the different modes of play.

ECHOCHROME

Echochrome will be a downloadable game on the PlayStation Store and available for the PSP. Announced at E3 2007 [1] and created by Sony's Japan Studios, it is a graphically simple puzzle game, with gameplay involving rotating a world occupied by Oscar Reutersvärd's impossible constructions to be traversed by a mannequin figure. The game is based on the Object Locative Environment Coordinate System developed by Jun Fujiki, an engine that determines what is occurring based on the camera's perspective.

IGN review

Closing Comments

Piyotama is great fun. It's simple and yet complex at the same time, allowing players to jump in quickly and have some fun while also providing plenty of depth for anyone who wants to really dig in and master the game. Randomly shuffling pieces once you've started a combo can result in good scores and does diminish the hard work that you should be doing, but it's still fun despite this fact. And at only $2.99, how can you go wrong?

7.0 Presentation

There aren't all that many options, but the "instructional" demo videos are a nice inclusion.

7.0 Graphics

The visuals are certainly simple, but the art style is eye-pleasing and it's sharp as a razor.

7.5 Sound

The music is somewhat catchy and the sound effects are cute.

7.5 Gameplay

There's a fair bit of depth to be found here, but it's also easy to get into.

8.0 Lasting Appeal

It's a puzzler, which means you'll keep coming back time and time again for high scores, and the leaderboards help this. Two-player is fun as well, though you can't play online.

7.5

Good OVERALL

(out of 10 / not an average)

High Velocity Bowling Review

Sony takes a stab at motion-controlled bowling with surprisingly decent results.

source-ign

6.0 Presentation

Neon-lit, mostly static menus and some tackboard-style graphics shunt you from title screen to the game, but there's very little in the way of flashiness here.

7.0 Graphics

See above. Stiff-ish and few animations for the characters, not to mention fairly simple modeling mean that there's not a whole lot of eye candy here. But hey, the pin/ball physics are quite nice.

7.5 Sound

The characters' voices in the game range from annoying to creepy, but they're certainly fitting. The loungy music is low-key, and of course it can be replaced by anything you'd like.

7.5 Gameplay

Though there's not a whole lot to it, the bowling here has enough depth and challenge that it actually ends up being a lot of fun.

6.5 Lasting Appeal

Though there isn't a ton to unlock, the simple tap, tap, swing mechanic for actually bowling makes the game a fairly quick pick-up-and-play offering, perfect for quick play sessions with friends.

7.5

Good OVERALL

High Velocity Bowling, very fun game, puts Wii bowling to shame. Only downside is, Sixaxis is kinda slippery and doesn't come with wrist strap, so there are more chance of you hitting your precious LCD with it :(

PS. HVB also supports rumble and has future integration with HOME.
