Aussie Sales Charts

No greater testament to the great Australian sense of apathy than the continued presence of Halo 3 at the top. Instead of the mad rush to the register seen elsewhere, Australian 360 owners are more "Ah, bugger it, I'll get it next week". Still, lazy or not, enough copies were bought to keep newcomers The Orange Box and SingStar RnB from the #1 spot.

1) Halo 3

2) Crash Of The Titans

3) The Orange Box (360)

4) SingStar RnB

5) Phantom Hourglass

6) Drawn To Life

7) Buzz! Hollywood Quiz

8) Juiced 2

9) The Orange Box (PC)

10) FIFA 08 (PS2)

British Sales Charts

From Kotaku

http://kotaku.com/gaming/sales-charts/brit...arts-319244.php

__________________________________________________________________

You've whined for it long enough, so here, Britons, this week we're trying something different. The individual format charts, as opposed to our old friend, the all format charts. What's the difference? Well, it makes Pro Evo's dominance look more dominant, that's for sure. Even the PS3 version of the game made the charts, and it's one of the worst ports in living memory.

1) Pro Evo 2008 (PS2)

2) Pro Evo 2008 (360)

3) Halo 3

4) Football Manager 2008

5) Brain Training 2

6) Brain Training

7) Pro Evo 2008 (PS3)

8) Phantom Hourglass

9) FIFA 08 (PS2)

10) The Simpsons Game (PS2)

NPD will not release american hardware sales to the public anymore.

NPD Explains the Controversy Over Truncated Data

From Gamedaily

http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/news/npd...d-data--/18435/

_____________________________________________________________________

Is the news blown out of proportion? The NPD Group explains why there is a data pullback.

Earlier today the Internet went a bit nutty when Newsweek columnist N'Gai Croal wrote on his blog that The NPD Group would be scaling back the amount of video game data it typically releases each month.

Croal said that beginning with the October data (expected later this month), NPD will no longer provide hardware sales numbers and will scale back software sales to the Top Five SKUs as opposed to the usual Top Ten. "We'll eventually receive hardware numbers and Top Ten software numbers, but only on a quarterly and annual basis. There are signs that this may only be a temporary pullback, but for now, this is were things stand," he added.

GameDaily BIZ caught up with NPD spokesperson David Riley to find out what's behind this.

"It used to be policy that NPD not provide hardware sales figures," he explained. "Instead, we would leave it up to the industry to release their own numbers. NPD would only become involved with media if they needed us to verify data provided to them by the manufacturer.

"However, in Nov'06, when all three new consoles were on the market for the first time, we discussed internally, then reached out to various reps. on the manufacturer side and asked if it would be acceptable for NPD to 'temporarily' provide hardware install base figures (we had been inundated with media requests and felt it best to consider changing this policy on a temporary basis). There was no push back... it's been a year, so we decided to pull this monthly feed and leave it up to the manufacturer as to whether or not they wanted that sales information released to media. It's really that simple."

Riley told us that so long as the console makers give the greenlight, NPD would have no problem continuing to provide the data to media and other non-clients.

Xbox 360 Bundle Sells Out Right Here, Folks

From Kotaku

http://kotaku.com/gaming/only-in-japan/xbo...olks-320154.php

______________________________________________________

xboxsoldoutosaka.jpg

Keep in mind that this is one store in one enormous Japanese city. Onward! French DSliteblog takes a break from its regular DS postings to bring word that retailer Yamada Denki in south Osaka has sold out of the limited edition ¥34,800 (US $302) bundle. The tag on the glass case says "kanbai shimashita," and that means SOLD OUT as of yesterday. (The bundle went on sale November 1.) Besides the console, the pack also includes copies of Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Piñata. A slight, slight, slight glimmer of hope for Micrsoft's chances in The Land of the Rising Sun.

Gotta favor: Can somebody check and see if hell has frozen over? Thanks.

The Japanese Software Chart

From Kotaku

http://kotaku.com/gaming/super-mario-galax...hart-320190.php

_______________________________________________

Anecdotal evidence? Sucks. While we've heard plenty about Super Mario Galaxy launching "quietly" and response being tepid, it seems that Wii gamers in Japan are still taken by the Italian plumber, especially when in a galactic setting. Mario's first proper Wii adventure captured the number one spot on this week's charts with a healthy quarter million sales. True, Ace Combat 6 for the Xbox 360 had a great week, boosting The Idolm@ster and Earth Defense Force 3 sales, both now part of the Platinum series.

For those keeping score, DS Nishimura Kyotaro Suspense Shin Tantei Series: Kyoto Atami Zekkai no Kotou - Satsui no Wana also saw a nice little bump in placement and weekly sales. For the rest of the stuff, check the jump. Media Create sales for October 29 to November 4 are below.

01. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - 251,000 / NEW

02. Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (Xbox 360) - 77,000 / NEW

03. Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (DS) - 51,000 / 193,000

04. Super Robot Wars Scramble Commander The 2nd (PS2) - 21,000 / NEW

05. DS Bungaku Zenshuu (DS) - 18,000 / 72,000

06. DS Nishimura Kyotaro Suspense Shin Tantei Series: Kyoto Atami Zekkai no Kotou - Satsui no Wana (DS) - 18,000 / 115,000

07. Wii Sports (Wii) - 16,000 / 2,182,000

08. Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day (DS) - 15,000 / 676,000

09. World Soccer Winning Eleven DS Goal x Goal! (DS) - 15,000 / 44,000

10. Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon: Time Expedition Party (DS) - 14,000 / 552,000

11. Kanji Brain Test 2.5M (DS)

12. Wii Play (Wii)

13. Ar Tonelico II: Sekai ni Hibiku Shoujo Tachi (PS2)

14. Pokémon Mysterious Dungeon: Shadow Expedition Party (DS)

15. Mario Kart DS (DS)

16. Mario Party 8 (Wii)

17. Gundam Battle Chronicle (PSP)

18. KanKen DS 2 + Jouyou Kanji Jiten (DS)

20. New Super Mario Bros. (DS)

21. The Idolm@ster (Xbox 360)

22. Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Meteor (PS2)

23. Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisecchi: Mina San Kyu (DS)

HELL HATH FROZEN OVER

The Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 in Japan

From Joystiq

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/09/xbox-360...s-ps3-in-japan/

__________________________________________________________

Kiss your loved ones, hug your friends, because if this keeps up we've reached the end of days -- the Xbox 360 outsold the PlayStation 3 last week in Japan. We'll break down all the numbers in our weekly Japanese hardware sales post later today. For now (while we pack our towels), the Xbox 360 sold 17,673 fueled by (raise an eyebrow) Namco Bandai's Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation, which debuted at the #2 spot behind Super Mario Galaxy.

The PS3 sold 17,434 units compared to Xbox 360's 17,673, a slight 200 unit separation. But to just give an idea how dramatic the increase in sales was, the previous week Xbox 360 only sold 3,718 units, increasing its sales almost five fold. Repent while you still can.

What next ? MGS 4 on the X360 ? :shock3:

Microsoft is having one impressive week over in Japan. In addition to grabbing the second slot in the Media Create top 50 sales charts with Ace Combat 6, the 360 sold 17,673 hardware units in one week alone. With the new sales, the system has at last crossed the 500,000 sold mark, which is something that the original Xbox never did.

But more than that, this is what we're sure will keep people talking. The 17,673 hardware units was enough for the 360 to beat both the PS2 and PS3! Yes, the 360 is now the second hottest console in Japan (next to the Wii).

Topping the Media Create hardware charts for the week of 10/29 to 11/4 is, expectedly, the DS Lite, whose 78,552 units beat second place PSP's 59,714. Wii comes in next with 37,617 units, a jump of about 10,000 from last week, likely fueled by Super Mario Galaxy's release.

The PS3 is actually pretty close to the 360, at 17,434 units. Given that Media Create estimates its numbers based off a sampling of stores, it's possible that the PS3 did actually beat the 360 this week. We'll never know for sure. What is pretty clear, however, is that the 360 beat the PS2, which only managed 10,209 units.

Strong 360 sales were likely influenced by Microsoft's 5,000 yen price drop and the release of Ace Combat 6. The 360 also saw a flood of budget releases for popular titles like Idol Master and Earth Defense Force.

The true test will be if the 360 can maintain these impressive numbers next week. Koei is bringing Dynasty Warriors 6 to the system on Sunday, which should help drive system sales.

The PS3, meanwhile, will have that as well, along with the heavily marketed 39,980 yen 40 gigabyte system and one of those few foreign titles that actually commands an audience in Japan, Ratchet & Clank.

It's doubtful that the 360 will beat the PS3 in sales next week, but we presume Microsoft wouldn't mind just staying in five digits for two weeks in a row

LMAO at Namco Bandai. Poor guys should've known how big AC franchise is in Japan before going exclusive with M$. Sold 77k units in first week, for the record, Unsung War sold 173k, Shattered Skies 210k, and previous ones crossing 250k+ in first week. AC6's is the most dismal first week sales figure amongst all AC games and serves them right. Hopefully other Japanese devs will learn a lesson from this.
