I think there are lot of factors connected to retirement decisions that we common people arent fully aware of. I believe announcing retirement could affect influencers like them financially. Im just speculating, but there might be pressure from sponsors and brands to delay any public announcement, even if they are planning to retire. Retirement could impact their current and future deals, many of which are signed on yearly or 3–5-year contracts. Once a player retires, businesses might not see them as valuable as before, which could be a concern for brands. Their face is a brand in itself, and retirement simply push them out of the limelight.
