Waow, prime abgb computers having sale for a TV/monitor right now.

http://www.primeabgb.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=479&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=4780&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=54

I want HDMI-DVI-D input to the screen, which is available, can someone explain to me how the audio works in this thing? I wan to be able to connect my gaming headphones and play...

Firstly, buy it from a computer shop, and not Croma, as you won't get good discounts in a showroom. Secondly full HD(with HDMI and Audio Out) monitors can be easily had at this price. If you increase your budget to 15k, you can even have a 3D monitor like these two:

http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-AOC-E2352PHZ-23-Inch-3D-LED-Monitor-Gaming-Free-Glasses-3-Yr-Warranty-/261022674903?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3cc629efd7

http://www.ebay.in/itm/LG-3D-Cinema-23-Full-HD-LED-Monitor-3-Years-Warranty-/190679009480?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item2c655ac8c8

Both of these have audio-out port. However, note that these use passive 3D technology, and so not supported by nVidia's 3D Vision(however there are alternatives) on PC. Both support 3D on PS3 though.

On non-3D side, as I said before, look for a full HD monitor with HDMI, like this:

http://www.rightsource.net.in/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=650

Go to a computer shop, and they'll show you many models, most of which will have audio-out. Even if they don't have it, you may connect the PS3 directly to an external speaker via something like this(this is how I used to output sound through my PS3 at one time; it works flawlessly.):

http://www.ebay.in/itm/RCA-AV-Video-Audio-Splitter-Plug-Adapter-1-Male-2-F-/261023889928?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3cc63c7a08

If you want to use headphones only(and not speakers), you may use the above adapter in conjuction with this:

http://www.ebay.in/itm/3-5MM-Stereo-Male-2-RCA-Female-Audio-Adapter-2Pics-/160765124632?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item256e592018

So, you'll have to connect the white/red cables from the PS3 to the first adaptor, connect the second adapter to the other end of the first adapter, and then connect your headphone to one of the available ports on the second adapter. The second adapter also has two audio-out ports, so you can even connect a headphone and a speaker, or two headphones, simultaneously.

@ others, sorry for the long OT post.

Continuation of my previous post:

With this method of getting sound through these adater things, you may also consider getting an HD monitor with DVI only. That will save a lot of cost. Here are some:

http://www.ebay.in/itm/BENQ-22-G2220HD-FULL-HD-LCD-TFT-Monitor-Dvi-Port-Cable-/251058279006?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3a743d525e

http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-LG-E2260V-Full-HD-21-5-22-LED-Super-Slim-PC-Monitor-Cash-Delivery-/270937785661?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3f1526853d

I am currently using the following(it has HDMI, but no sound output. But great monitor for its price):

http://www.ebay.in/itm/New-Acer-S231HL-23-WideScreen-Full-HD-LED-TFT-PC-Monitor-VGA-DVI-HDMI-Port-/170840202707?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item27c6de9dd3

Also, HDMI to DVI cables are also cheaply available. I use the following with my 360:

http://www.ebay.in/itm/HIGH-QUALITY-HDMI-DVI-D-DUAL-LINK-CABLE-GOLD-PLATED-1-5-METER-1-5M-/190673085049?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item2c65006279

Thanks a lot phenom, btw, I had the similar setup at home, but like I mentioned earlier, it wasn't posible to control the volume...How do you manage to control the volume when you use those jacks and adapters to directly connect to the headphones?

Also what contrast and response time should I be looking for for my gaming needs?

response time needs to be as low as possible .. my new monitor has a 2ms or 5ms response time, not sure though. Contrast ratio should be high.

I would suggest going for a 23' Acer monitors as I used them for 3 years and it is still working flawlessly. Acer replaced it last year when there was a small issue with a dead pixel.

Am using a LG monitor now, Acer one is only used for watching HD movies(Yeah, Torrents :hypocrite: ) via laptop.

^ I use speakers which already have volume controller. In your case, I think the only option is to get another headphone with volume controller, or get a monitor with its own sound. In the latter case, the monitor should have an option to control volume, which will also work while connecting your headphone to its audio-out port. Most all cheap monitors come with 5 ms response time, which is good enough if you aren't planning to spend too much. Don't know much about contrast except that the 'Dynamic contrast ratio' cited by most manufacturers is not the real thing, like the digital zoom in cameras. The actual contrast ratio of all monitors in 10k range is between 250-300 cd/m^2 IIRC. So, pretty much all it boils down to is your brand preference and durability. I've had an Acer with me for two years and a Benq at home for 4 years, both still running good. I've heard Viewsonic is not that much durable.

I'd suggest you to narrow down your list from a computer shopping site, and read Amazon customer reviews of them.

whatever happens .. do not opt for the sound through monitors, down right pathetic. The way guns sound will be completely different. Gmal sounds like FAL of Uncharted 2. get a decent monitor within budget and get a headset that works along with it.
