Reviews out.

  • If you somehow managed to miss out on trying the original Age of Empires, this is your time to get stuck in. The Definitive Edition is an excellent nod to the classic title that made the series what it is today.
  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition might always live in the shadow of its younger sibling, but Forgotten Empires has crafted a gorgeous update for diehard fans of the original or simply fans of ancient history. Wololo.
  • It's not perfect, but it's still pretty fun. With single- and multiplayer offerings and a wealth of nostalgia, it's hard to do wrong with Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.
  • The legendary RTS milestone comes back with a new look and an updated gameplay, but with some old mechanics and too much crashes, freezes and instable frame rate, it can't be still a masterpiece.
  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is the return of the iconic brand, but the times change and the RTS went ahead.
  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition succeeds in its goal — giving fans of the series a painstakingly remastered game that is faithful to the original.
  • Age of Empires may be ancient by videogame standards but this engaging, challenging overhaul is well worth digging up.
  • Age of Empires: Definitive Edition does almost everything it sets out to do; it breathes new life into an absolute classic, and allows us to put on those rose-tinted glasses for another long campaign across the map, dominating through any means possible and constructing an empire very few could dream of. It still suffers from a few issues that the original did, but what more can you ask from a game that is older than half the people you play against online these days? It's definitely worth purchasing, if only for the nostalgia factor.
  • The Windows 10 restrictions simply do the development team a disservice. A lot of work went into Age of Empires: Definitive Edition and just enough tweaks were made to ensure that it's still relevant in 2018. I have an incredible amount of respect for the folks who brought this classic back to life, and for their restraint to ensure that this remaster doesn't abandon its roots.

Game launched; anyone playing it here? Have to say, I like MS store release schedule. 20th release means they unlocked at 20th midnight, unlike steam in which devs release games at any time they feel like during the release day.

Generally gets tied to the PST. I do not see it as a pro or a con.

No Win 11, they will just update and improve Windows 10 from now on.

Don't really see the upgrades but damn it is still fun like old times. Rage quits are real. FwW50dD.png

With so many units on screen, it does stutter at times.

No zoom in classic mode. Too far.
