XBOX Customer Support Experiences

Today i am going to rant about my experience with the whole Xbox support.

About two weeks back i had discovered that my dvd drive was not functioning properly. There was a problem with the tray which didn't eject when the console was placed in a vertical position but worked flawlessly when the console was in horizontal position. A total design flaw with cheap hardware.

 

My nightmare began when i called up the xbox360 support. My console was obviously out of warranty. After calling the support and selecting the appropriate menu, my call was routed to a customer care representative. By hearing the accent one could make that it was either a Chinese , Thai or some other Asian fellow. I explained him my problem and the procedure followed like it does for everyone else. I had to repeat my address which so f**kingly long like more than five times so that he got it correct and even after spelling my name thrice he got it wrong.

 

Anyways this was my least concern. After waiting for more than six days a lady from Redington called up to confirm the whole issue and cross-checked my personal details. She assured me that within a few days someone would drop an empty carton and there would be instructions on how to pack the whole thing and someone will even pick the box. Now another three days passed and there was still no sign of the empty box. On the fourth day, a courier guy dropped the empty box. I asked him to wait for five mins so that i pack my console and he can take it on the spot but he looked all confused and said he didn't know anything about it.

 

I figured that there would be some sort of contact number inside box through which i can ask someone to pick the box but there was no contact info inside the box except for a bunch of official papers. So anyways i packed my console and left instructions at my place to give to a courier guy if he asks for it. Now another few days passed and there was no response from Redington or Microsoft.

 

I decided to call up the tech support to ask them about this and they were clueless. According to them some angel or God's carrier will come to take my console at their own will. Again nothing happened for another two days. Hating the whole phone support, this time i decided to email them and find out if they could just give me some kind of contact number of the courier company. They gave me this number " 044-32529263" . Its some Reliance number where the ring goes but no one bothers to pick one. I have tried this number atleast ten times at different times of the day but still no reply.

 

Pissed of with the whole carton lying at my place doing nothing but collecting dust, i emailed and called up tech support. After a day, thank god a Redington fellow from Chennai called up and apologized for the whole issue and said that he will speak with the Mumbai branch and let me know what will happen. He didn't call back. So yesterday night i got a call from Mumbai from some "Skylark Couriers" who said asked me again for personal details and said that someone would pick it by today ie yesterday. Luckily a fellow called and said he would pick up but since it was around 8ish, the Mumbai guy requested me if he could pick the box tomorrow ie today to which i said it was ok.

 

Come Today no one has bothered to call me or collect the box. Somehow from the Yellow pages i managed to find the phone number of the courier agency and inquire them to what happened with the whole thing. After giving my name and address again and telling him the whole thing, he said he would call back.

 

End result ? My xbox360 is still lying in the box. I am still waiting for someone to pick the box. My only request was that someone picks the box by today as i was going out of station tomorrow and that too they were not able to do after giving them so much of time period

 

After going through so much of hassle and trouble, i came to the following conclusions:

 

If you wanna get your work done, you either bribe or use contacts. Las time when my 360 got bricked due to dashboard update, i wrote to Mohit and within 5 days my old console was taken and a new one was given to me. This time i decided not to go through that route and get it solved by myself. I can't believe this is the same Microsoft for whom i am have been testing softwares for years. I have tested every major softwares right from Windows Xp to Windows Server 2008 to Microsoft Office 08 for which billy boy himself has given a certificate of appreciation.

 

What a sh*t company and tech support they have. This is the last time i am getting any of their products. Their whole hardware sucks and then they expect consumers to support them through buying their games. I am still thinking to keep my console since it works in the horizontal position and throw that bloody box out of my place. I . I thought the whole thing is suppose to be automated.

Turns out its exactly the opposite.

 

and the worst part is that its still not over. I am still not sure how the part 2 process where my console goes and comes back repaired from their service center to my place is gonna be.

At the end of the whole half a*s experience, i am exhausted with repeating my name and address and cross-checking and verifying my personal details. I seriously haven't stepped out of my place from last two days waiting for those mother f**kers to come and take my damn console.

Ahmedabad Region has to be the worst x360 region. You can ask Babyzelda if you think i am lying. We never get new games, accessories,xbox live subscriptions etc

Its only after chasing M$ executives that one or two titles manage to land up.

LA, i feel ur pain mate.

 

 

it took MS Support (f**king f**k f**ks) 4 months............. to tell me that my xbox 360 will be void if it leaves England and i emailed them yesterday to ask about my VGA issue.

 

 

so im guessing they will reply, when my first movie comes out.............................

^^ Its amazing how varied the experiences are concerning M$ support.

 

Redington really need to pull up their socks. If these sort of fiascos had come to light during their IPO earlier in the year, I would have definitely tried to throw a spanner in the works by firing a complaint to SEBI about lack of disclosures regarding customer satisfaction in the Offer Document or something like that.

^ so if someone finally collects the box, what happens after that? since your console is out of warranty, will they call you to give you an estimated cost for repairs? or would they repair it and ship it back to your place and expect you to cough up an arbitrary amount on delivery?

Does anyone know where the India support calls are re-routed to? I always get this north eastern sounding chappie on the other end every time I call. And I'm using the local Bangalore 080 number. So are they actually in Bangalore?

I bought an Xbox 360 Elite in September...

 

Everything was going as planned. I was in love with my 360 and the games I played on it. Then at the end of January the DVD Drive went bad. I was in shock; not because the drive wasn't working but because it had put like a million scratches on my favorite game, Halo 3. I had spent like 2500 bucks on that game and I was sure of the fact that the disc would never ever work again (wtf?!). I called up the Customer Support and was told that I'll be receiving a call from Redington within 10 business days. They did call me up just to tell me that they had no Elites in stock! (and again i was like wtf?!). They could not confirm when I would be receiving a replacement.

 

From that day till now, it's been almost a month and a half and I am still waiting for a replacement, though the supervisor at Xbox was kind enough to offer me a free game as compensation (I went for Halo 3). Guess what? The guy from Redington came to my place with the new Halo 3 disc and told me that its not a compensation but a replacement for my scratched disc. I f*cking sent him back and sorted out the problem with the Customer Support (its been like 2 weeks overall and I still haven't received the Halo 3 disc... again, wtf?!)

 

I am so fed up with Microsoft. They totally suck. It takes them like 2 months (maybe more) to get a replacement from Australia (seriously, whats wrong with them?!). I am afraid I'll never see that replacement again. Because of them I have wasted like 2500 bucks, 1 and a half months of LIVE subscription, 1 and a half months of Warranty and a lot of valuable time.

 

Can anybody please help me out in any way possible?! Please... !

I am not surprised tbh

A few months back i had written a long rant too as to why the support sucked and and quoted this from my own personal shitty experience right from customer care representative lying right on my face and what not.

thats f**ked up man, but ive screwed by m$ too. i was told my 360 was still covered if i take it to another country, all is good, then 360 starts to some aging, so i asked again what i need to do just incase my 360 dies........ then........... it begins. i get told my 360 is now void, as my 360 has been taken to another country, so no warranty for me. even though i paid £60 extra for 3 extra years for insurance.

^ No Replacement.

 

M$ rejected my console. Apparently they had some sort of proof or something that it was opened even though my console was not banned from live or failed the pirate disk check. They never shared the images plus they even lied to me that they have already shipped a replaced console and still after 1 week i had got nothing. Then they apologized a lot to me.

 

End of the story, got my console back after 1 deadful month + couple of phone calls not to mention the 360 was in a sh*t condition when it came back.
