KnackChap
God of War 3 Developer:Sony Santa Monica Publisher:Sony Genre:Action Adventure Players:1 Platform:PS3 Release: year of the PS3 The "next chapter" in the God of War franchise, this game has been confirmed as something that series creator David Jaffe has begun kicking around ideas on. Naturally, this is something everybody who has followed sales numbers or enjoyed the previous blockbuster hits has been expecting. The game, however, is still in the very earliest stages of design, and it is unknown which directions the series will take from here. It is also unknown what platform the series will continue on, although the obvious answer is that part 3 will arrive on PlayStation 3. K'dash
God of War III officially PS3-bound Confirming Cory Barlog's exit from its Santa Monica studio, SCEA announces Kratos is indeed coming to its next-gen console. In March, Sony Computer Entertainment America held a lavish launch party in San Francisco for God of War II. In the course of the celebrations, Cory Barlog, the game's outspoken director, dropped some none-too-subtle hints that the series would be coming to the PlayStation 3 along with force feedback. "If we were to do a God of War III on the PS3," Barlog told the enthusiastic crowd. "We're excited about the potential--maybe, no commitment, no announcement or anything like that--to maybe have [God of War hero] Kratos in 1080p with the Sixaxis and vibration. Vibration is coming back to the PS3, that's pretty cool, huh?" At the time of Barlog's outburst, SCEA reps would comment on neither a rumble-enabled Sixaxis nor God of War III coming to the PS3. Now, less than two months after the Dual Shock 3 was unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show, Sony has officially confirmed that God of War III is indeed in development exclusively for the PS3 at SCEA's Santa Monica studio. It provided no further details on the game. Unfortunately, the God of War III announcement was tempered by some bittersweet news. SCEA has confirmed Barlog himself no longer works at the company's Santa Monica studio. "We are grateful for his work and creative vision for the critically acclaimed God of War franchise," the company said in a brief statement in which it expressed faith in the remaining members of the GOWIII and God of War: Chains of Olympus teams. Barlog's departure remains shrouded in mystery. So far, he has shared no information about his future plans on his personal blog, where he last posted in mid-October. His exit comes just under four months after God of War series creative director, David Jaffe announced he was leaving SCEA's employ after 14 years. Jaffe maintains close ties with Sony, and his indie studio Eat Sleep Play's first project is a PS2 port of the PSP game Twisted Metal: Head On. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6182430.html?...estnews;title;

CarbonCore
Thats great news. The official announcement is really just a formality, where else it would've gone other than PS3? And the better news is that the game is already in development.

THE DIRECTOR
Jaffe wants to be involved in God of War 3 David Jaffe, the man credited for starting it all in Sony's God of War franchise, has admitted in a recent interview that he would love to be involved in the upcoming God of War 3 game for the Sony PlayStation 3. He says he has always had a "master plan" for the story of Kratos and would like to see it become gaming reality. Jaffe recently left the God of War team to open new studio Eat Sleep Play with Scott Campbell. They're still backed up by Sony with a three-game publishing deal. In the interview with GameDaily, Jaffe said that he left his God of War 3 master plan notes with the Santa Monica team and it's up to them if they want to follow his guide or create a new twist entirely. Jaffe directed the first and second God of War games, as well as the legendary Twisted Metal 2 and Twisted Metal Black car combat games. He's currently working on porting the Sony PSP's Twisted Metal: Head On to the Sony PlayStation 2. In the same interview, Jaffe talked about 2K Boston's recent hit Bioshock and how the title should be a front runner for game of the year honors. He also notes that as a gamer, he just can't get into the game. http://ps3.qj.net/Jaffe-wants-to-be-involv...g/49/aid/109293 http://www.gamedaily.com/games/twisted-met...biz=&page=1 God of War 3 release date confirmed? We know a lot of you are looking forward to God of War 3 updates from Sony. The lure of Kratos is stronger than ever, and a news bit over at website The Game Reviews caught our eye. A release date for God of War 3 for the Sony PlayStation 3, they say, has been confirmed. "We were recently able to get confirmation for the release of God of War 3," they said. "After speaking to the developers at the Video Game Awards, they confirmed with us, that the long assumed date of 2009." "The title will support 1080p graphics and will have both Sixaxis and rumble support<" continues the site. "Unfortunately, we have little more info that we care share with you at this date." http://ps3.qj.net/God-of-War-3-release-dat...g/49/aid/109288 http://ps3.thegamereviews.com/story-268-Re...-Confirmed.html

vinitwins
EGM Rumors: God Of War 3 For Holidays 2008 http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/2021.html Gotta love those rumors, and the latest batch has been provided by this month's EGM. While we know all about Sony's PSP project, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and we figured there would eventually be a God of War 3 for the PS3, we had no idea when the latter title would arrive. Well, that's the first big rumor in the magazine: The rumor says that the next installment in the revered franchise has been pseudo-announced, and SCEA's Santa Monica team is already slaving away on God of War 3. It seems they're working hard to deliver this guaranteed blockbuster by holidays 2008, which would be very good news for PS3 owners. However, it may have to do battle with another hotly anticipated sequel: Epic's Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360. This one is also rumored to arrive next holiday season, even though neither of these tentative release dates are confirmed. Heck, neither sequel here has even been officially confirmed by Sony or Epic. But it's still very interesting to hear. And lastly, EGM has a rumor that will entice all you RPG fans out there- it seems Sega has plans to resurrect Skies of Arcadia, which had two installments (one each on the Dreamcast and GameCube), but never really caught on amongst the mainstream public. Critics loved those games, though, so here's hoping we do see another title, and that it's available on the PS3. We'll see if anything here gets confirmed in the coming weeks, and if it does, we'll be sure to tell you about it. God of War 3 vs. Gears of War 2 for next Christmas? Damn, sounds good to us! We'll take 'em both, no problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
