Emo-Iwata
from Nintendo Power “This is a reimagining of the first Silent Hill,” explains producer Tomm Hulett. “It’s not a remake or a port. That’s an important distinction. It really feels like a new game.” sweet!sign me up

Nike
Some more quotes from the article: “The characters play different roles, things don’t necessarily happen in the same order, and the story is taken in lots of new directions. You still play as Harry Mason, you’re still looking for your daughter, and you’ll see familiar elements, but they’re all twisted to betray your expectations. One of Shattered Memories’ most significant and intriguing additions—your answers actually affect how the game unfolds. And it doesn’t end there. the game “watches” you constantly, and your behavior throughout can determine when you’ll meet certain characters, which scenes you’ll witness, and a variety of other factors.” Every Silent Hill has multiple endings. I don't think this makes things any less cut-and-dry. “We’re using the Wii Remote to interact directly with the environment, so the puzzles are all based around that idea. You’re not just hitting buttons to choose things. The solution to a puzzle is always in the immediate vicinity, and there’s a lot less backtracking then in previous games.” If one developer has said it, all devs have. “In Silent Hill games, the town always gets inside the protagonist’s head. But now, it’s getting inside YOUR head.” A la Eternal Darkness' Sanity Meter? Would be interesting to see how this one turns out. Most of the Wii's line-up this year consists exclusively of M-rated games.
KnackChap
who's developing?
Nike
who's developing? Climax Studios, developers of Overlord: Dark Legend (also coming to the Wii) and Silent Hill: Origins (PSP). Not too excited about the other games they developed - not exactly an A-list portfolio - but at least they're familiar with Silent Hill. Even if it's one of the more iffy ones. Tyler
Silent Hill: Origins was quite decent. Anyway this is one of those few times when I wish I had a Wii...
Emo-Iwata
a bit of info i found interesting -You take a personality profile from a psychiatrist at the beginning. It asks questions ranging from making friends to those of "a more adult nature." This influences the story, as well as the way the monsters look. Nike
this info seems related to comic book series of Silent hill Silent Hill: Dying Inside [Taken from Wikipedia] 'Dying Inside was the first volume published by IDW Publishing, with art by Ben Templesmith (#1 and 2) and Aadi Salman (#3 to 5). This story was originally released as a five issue limited series and later collected and released in a single volume trade paperback. The first two dealt with a doctor and patient, while the remaining three issues covered a group of goth kids. The first two issues rapidly sold out and required a second printing, in fact "Silent Hill #2 sold out, including IDW’s overprinting, before it even shipped to stores." 'In the first two chapters, Dr. Troy Abernathy wants to cure Lynn DeAngelis from her delusions, which began after she went to do a movie in the town of Silent Hill. Abernathy takes her back to the town... only to discover a world built from his inner fears, and ruled by a demonic little girl -- Christabella -- who seeks guilty souls. From Chapter 3 until the conclusion, a goth girl named Lauryn finds Lynn's movie and plans to go to Silent Hill to do the same stunt so her group can earn some cash. There, a final confrontation with Christabella occurs, when Lauryn realizes Christabella is a tad more familiar than she would have thought in the first place.' Kind of reminds me of Tactics Ogre: Knight of the Lodis for the Game Boy Advance. Besides asking a number of questions in the beginning deciding your character's allegiance and sun-sign, you come to a crossroads halfway into the game and either decision made alters all plot elements to follow. The game, based on your ranking, has about 5 endings. Seems to match with Climax attempting a multi-ending approach to Shattered Memories.
