I contacted Sony India & the executive provided me with an email & listed info that I need to provide

    which I did ……it’s been 24hrs & going

My account has been hacked & password/email changed

though it is amusing how I didn’t receive a successful email change notification on my email ID which always happens

Some strong hacking stuff this is

let’s see else I’ll try & get a UK support Mail

    I have a friend there

Contact Sony UK. They should be able to resolve it in 48-72 working hours. Are you still logged in on your PS4/5?

    Edit:

@AnK Can you check if you get logged out of your PS4/5?

What from when ? i never got that option ? Works with google authenticator too ?

It works with any authentication app (Google Auth, Microsoft Auth, Authy, ANDOtp, etc.)

Purchase Bitwarden, it’s an amazing open source Password manager and you can use it as an Authentication app as well. It backups the authentication qr codes as well.

@radicaldude hey use a passphrase as your password. Adding an exclamation at the end of a leaked password is pointless.

    Why not SMS 2FA ?

It is low hanging fruit due to its' vulnerability to SIM swap attacks. Application based TOTP or U2F hardware tokens are better MFA options, when available.

Ranking of security for MFA options:

    Best - U2F hardware tokens

Runner up - Application based TOTP

    Worst - SMS OTP

@0verlord I am not sure if the XSX/S or the PS5 has u2f implemented for now. But, it will be coming sometime in the future. The Microsoft Authenticator is fine, you can use it for the PS4/5 as well.

Omg... Everytime I buy something on PSN, it asks me to renter CVV and expiry saying "your last login was on a different PS4." Does that mean my account could be hacked too? Thought it was some stupid bug

Change your password and activate 2FA (not SMS 2FA), when doing this it will provide a prompt to log out of all devices. That should solve your problem, if someone else has logged in to your account.

Preferably, remove your CC or Debit Card details from your account. Buy and redeem the game from any online retailer or buy gift cards and redeem them on your account if you want to buy on the PS Store.

My Indian account was hacked, but dude just used it to play my games offline while not changing anything except make his PS4 primary. This is why you should disable internet once in a while and see if your games are locked. Except for online only games like Destiny, 100% of your PS4/5 games should be playable offline.

Did this happen when you had 2FA on? Sony has an abysmal track record for security.

I actually prefer SMS. with Auth apps, you have to re-register when you buy a new phone/factory reset it. And I always end up forgetting registering one or the other 2fa account...

You do not have to do so if you enable backup and multi-device (disable this feature as soon as your other devices are updated) in the 2FA app Authy. Read the information in this link. https://authy.com/features/backup/

The newer versions of Google authenticator allows backup and restore of the seeds in the app if you restore your ios device from an encrypted backup.

PSN supports 2FA via apps like Authy so you don't have to rely on SMS. Your phone doesn't even have to be online. The app will display codes on rotation and you can input them while logging in.

Since when? I have not seen this option. (SMS 2fa sucks a*s)

@CarbonCore Thanks for the information. I just switched 2FA to AndOtp and Google Authenticator :)

I received the otp on Airtel on low network just fine bro. You sure it’s the right number. If it is I suggest contacting Sony. After how much time you’re logging back in

Logging in after 10 months (still logged in on the PS4). The mobile number is correct, I checked after logging in using the backup code.

    Both

    what is 2 step verification

    what is 2FA

2 factor Authentication. If it is turned on, then after entering the password you will receive a 6 digit code on the registered mobile number, which has to be entered on the next page.

Contact Sony asap, if you are unable to access your account. Keep a copy of when your account was created, on which device it was created, your recent purchases, if your account is logged in on a PS4 or PS5 and the serial number of the device.

    Edit:

    Access the above link.

@Walker Can you try logging in and let me know if you are receiving the SMS totp?

@Walker Thanks for the info. I am not receiving for US or Indian PSN :(. Which mobile service provider do you use? I am on Airtel. It could be a problem with the MSP.

What issue are you facing exactly

I am not able to login or change password

& not receiving any email once I try to

Are you trying to change your password on your PS4(5) or through the PSN page on a browser?

Do you have 2 step verification enabled?

  12.

f**k. I am not receiving the SMS totp for logging in. Is anyone else facing this issue with PSN?

Edit: @AnK I am stuck at the SMS TOTP page (not receiving any SMS). I am able to access my US PSN id using the backup code; but, I did not save the backup code for my Indian PSN id. I'll try disabling 2 Step verification via the PS4.

    What problem are you facing?

There is an always but this isn’t the always kinda scenario the world is facing right now

30-40% of vaccines wasted is kinda criminal right now

any state that registered a more than 5% of wastage should have been given a reduced quota in accordance to the amount wasted

Not to mention that the education & informative drives should have begun much before the availability of the Vaccines themselves

It is a totally failed approach being used right now

    IMO

I agree that the wastage of vaccines is too high. That is why I said that we need to attempt and reduce wastage as much as possible. I understand your point of view, but, unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world. We need to do the best we can within this unfavourable situation.

17 minutes ago, Mr. Comingle said:

I agree with this honestly. Wastage in this time is unacceptable when every dose matters.

Also, we can't run a massive PR campaign like polio because the availability is not there.

We need to run a massive PR campaign even though we do not have the number of vaccines we need right now, because it takes a lot of time for the message to permeate to people. Even after a large scale campaign there will be holdouts.

An example: I am trying to convince a group of approximately 150 people in a company to get vaccinated. 240 people who work in that office have already gotten their first dose, but the remainder do not want to get vaccinated.

These are well educated people (all of whom hold a masters in various fields of engineering). The vaccines are available, if they do not wish to get vaccinated; what course of action should be taken is the question? The carrot has been given; when should the stick be used.

We all need to do our part and co-ordinate with various government agencies, private institutions and local people in order to create awareness and reduce wastage. It may be a thankless task, but, every person who helps plays a significant role in the grand scheme of things. Please do not think that what you do will not make any difference.

I never objected to vaccination of rural India

I only objected to bringing vaccination before the knowledge

If you don’t do it systematically you are doing more harm than good

that’s what my point of view was

You see Science & politics will never go hand in hand

There are two aspects to the ongoing situation that we just witnessed

One is that the footage you just saw is a deliberate attempt at portraying that there is Vaccine hesitancy

Obviously when you take vaccine straight up someone’s a*s without fully informing him he will!! be hesitant

not to mention what we saw already being done at yoga shivers which millions in rural India follow

The other is the Supply problem that Urban India is facing

So if you do 1+2 someone is trying to save face by portraying hesitancy & supply issues at the same time

I agree with your point that science and politics in many countries do not go hand in hand.

There is always a price to be paid in order to educate people; in this case the price being paid is the wastage of vaccines. It is an unavoidable but acceptable price (in my opinion).

There is no perfect system; we just need to attempt to minimise the wastage as much as possible. Though, my personal view is that people who knowingly disparage the medical community need to be penalised by refusing them treatment.

    Good on you, dude.

I myself have been trying to kickoff an Initiative from long time. That is providing footwears to Children who can not afford to. I have seen these hordes of kids walking with their teachers barefoot on school-trips, in so many places. I have a name for it and I hope I get to do that soon.

But pandemic has changed perspective about a lot of things. This country cannot and shouldn’t run on Khairat of people with money, who themselves are dying in hunt of hospital beds, oxygen and some drugs they are ready to pay 100x for.

This chutiyagiri of socialism and populist politics must end.Thoo on this culture of getting vaxxed at your residence in front of cameras, when ppl you preside over are rolling over and dying.

Do what you can, do not think of the kozyol politicians and government officials. My suggestion is to stay away from the "charities" as they tend to spend more on advertisements, salaries, etc., than what is disbursed for help.

The trusts I work with have been threatened numerous times by the local mlc, political party cadre, etc., at such times the policy of who has the bigger fist is the most efficient way to deal with them.

I hope these news pieces are allowed here

    if not will remove

It’s very important to understand the situation at hand

The actions of a few, do not represent everyone. There are ongoing efforts by government and private institutions (including our firm) at improving knowledge about vaccinations in rural and urban areas of the country.

Please remember that we have educated people, of which many who behave as callous and ignorant fools without a care for another human being.

@AnK all of us are in a privileged position, but do not take things for granted.

Where does the food you eat come from, who is toiling away in rural India but struggle to feed their own families?

If you are unsatisfied with the wastage in vaccines, as many of us hold the same view. Then go and do something to help people learn.
