  1. The Pale Blue Eye is one of the prettiest and most engrossing movies you’ll watch all year. Fine investigative unwrapping, with a supporting actor, whose mannerisms and presence onscreen I can best compare to Devanand, who totally outshines Christian Bale. Completely recommended. Watch without subtitles.
  2. 1. add sleep time if possible. 2. Add dietary protein/supplement whey 3. Definitely add a serving of leucine. I recommend beta-leucine from procell. 4. Active recovery: add 10 mins of low intensity movement for doms affected muscle groups. Eg: easy walk for leg soreness. Target is to get them warmed up and get the blood flowing. 5. Try meditation
  3. "it's your gift, wouldn't you rather I enjoy it to the fullest?" On another note, have made her start Uncharted 2, now we're both leaping for the controller Good thing is she's a semi gamer too, we've co-op'd on Streets of Rage on the Switch and she quite enjoys fighting games. Edit: also noticed that sound was much better in the original game, or is it that disc carries higher bandwidth data. Like the axe sound effects are so clearly pronounced in GOW, etc, even though I played that on the PS4. *Grunts* ThoughI'd say more like in the 2018 game. Ragnarök was him hitting menopause.
  4. In brief, and in no particular order, Combat and gameplay is generally better than GOW 2018. It’s not just more of the same, they’ve added genuine tweaks, though I believe there are fewer findables for builds but maybe I’m mistaken here. Storytelling was off. There are many beautiful moments in the game, and many genuinely enjoyable set pieces. But they’re not as impactful. Kratos has had some estrogen injections it seems, because the character just did not add up. I liked how later on Kratos frequently asks Atreus to “lead”. I felt genuine rage when Brok was killed, which, if you think about it, was the only real bad-a*s in the game. Along with Lunda and that other dwarf in Svartalfheim who tells the god of war to f**k off from his office I also liked how Sindri was the one to hammer Odin’s soul marble. Made me laugh, in a good way. It took me ~60 hours to complete, with Vanaheim and Alfheim sucking up most of the time outside of the story. Speaking of, Vanaheim is quite beautiful, and genuinely annoying with the goddamn plants. Freya, do something and communicate with them, will you? Also the wishing well was quite pretty. The boss fights were.. okay. Expected better and more varied boss fights with Thor and Odin, specially with the build-up till the final act. I think the build-up from after Brok’s murder till you actually enter Asgard is my favourite part of the game. Still stupid, but the narrative suddenly changes from “no war” to “Ragnarok must happen” just because Odin tricked them and killed Brok? What? Or am I missing something? Liked playing with Loki initially, and the added agility and swiftness were appreciated, but his sections are just… boring. The game was too long. Some of the traversal is so shitty. Like I can’t get up to that ledge because a tinker-y metal plate is covering the hook point which I need to kick down from the top? Ugh. What did Surtr do exactly? Heimdall was fun, and funny My two gripes with the 2018 game were: field of view and game length. They’re both as bad or worse in this one. The game is too long, and feels disjointed. And battling more than a single enemy, even minnows, was at best tricky, and at worst quite annoying. None of the one on one bosses, or even the few berserkers I faced gave me any trouble. However fill the arena with half a dozen Einherjars, and it gets stupidly annoying fast. Battling scores of enemies and epic bosses was what the original game excelled at, right from the first on the PS2. Which, also, every game that Kratos has his gained abilities reduced was because he dies or something to that effect. Why did he not start with previous game’s gained abilities here? Could’ve used Thor’s first battle this way. Finally, I put on the 2018 GOW on the PS4 on another HDMI port just to get a feel of the difference side by side, and I couldn’t play for more than a few minutes. Which leads me to the biggest takeaway for me from this game: always, always, “favour performance”. edit: a bit late, but how goddamn hot was Sif? Well done Thor 8/10
  5. Travelling abroad makes you realise this even more. UPI in India, even with all its gaps and flaws, is one of the best things in the world.
  6. Not sure, and I didn't check with them. I was pretty un-sober tbh Couldn't have sat through this other wise.
  7. As a movie, Avatar: The Way of Water is quite boring, stupid, and overall sh*t. Like the first one. However, as a cinematic experience, unlike the first one, this one is aces. Despite its many and obvious flaws, this follow up is an excellent evening out at the theatre. Avatar showed hollywood what was the direction for vfx and creative computer insertions to filmmaking, with TWoW Cameron has taken many steps further which really no one else has done in the last decade or so. From the first shot it’s clear how far ahead TWoW is. It’s not just the capability and quality of “graphics”, it’s the creative direction. It’s the things you see, and how splendid they appear to be on that giant IMAX screen. I did not notice the HFR issues that @Bird Bird Bird mentioned, and I’m usually quite sensitive to that. FWIW, I watched it in IMAX Citywalk. For those of you who are concerned if movie is good, you’re missing the point. The movie is quite sh*t. However, as a cinema experience and spectacle, it is spectacular. Cinemas were created for movies like these. Watch it, watch it in IMAX. Take your family, your loved ones, buy the recliner seats, make an event out of it. We only get these once every decade or so.
  8. They needn’t have, for implementing dualsense specific features.
  9. This game, so far, feels and plays superior to GOW 2018. It also feels more of the same. My only real gripe remains, that of field of view and camera, specially while in battle with more than a single foe. In that sense, Ragnarök doesn’t feel new gen, specially after I tried Astro’s Playroom, even though for a little bit. That thing makes the PS5 and dual sense feel new gen. As a showcase system seller, Ragnarök should’ve done more.
  10. Anyone having voice issues with the 14 pro while on mobile network and e-sim? Data calling works fine, but cellular calls are either dropping, or too cracked in quality. Much worse than usual.
  11. All I want is to feel a punch-to-the-gut, balls-to-the-wall, "holy fkn sh*t" opening boss fight like Poseidon in 3. I still remember how it made me feel to have Kratos seize his soul from within the water tentacle form and rap him to the ground like a common thug. Boss.
  12. I paid ₹200 on a genuinely free sample, plus 750 "disbursement fee" to DHL
  13. Haven't heard of NakPro before but I know Ultimate Nutrition is a known offender previously. Also the linked website layout does not inspire confidence. I'd suggest you to go with the tried and tested Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. Order form HK. Another personal (because I know the director behind it) recommendation would be Procell Ketowhey.
  14. Prey was a good watch. One of those cinema experience movies. It will shine if you have a good a/v set-up, and will make you glad you went a little nutty for it. Some rough edges and possibly budget related constraints aside, it is a tightly made movie that hits right and hits well. Some sequences are gorgeous. About the only thing that doesn’t work (at all) is the tribe-folks’ fluency in English, complete with accent variation, and then for them to call the gun slinging French “white folk” Has some shades of The Revenant in scenery, which is about the best compliment a movie can carry for outdoor and nature-scape cinematography. The bear helps too. Properly recommended.
  15. Don’t mind if I do, EA.
  16. What's going on with the iPhone prices here? A 512gb 14 Pro costs $1300 (₹1L) in the US. It's for ₹1.6L here. I remember the X had launched for 89K for the same US starting price of $999.
  17. healthkart.com and neulife.com HK has never failed me, neulife can be slow. Proper authenticity either way.
  18. Do eat at the Bangkok airport food court. It’s after baggage in one corner and it’s hands down the tastiest food I’ve had in all my trips to Thailand. Yuh-mee ? Grab the ice fruit bowl after from the same area.
  19. [RANT] This has become a sh*t show faster than I'd anticipated. Out of all the (movie) titles we shortlist on an ongoing basis, hardly any are available on any network. Out of all networks, only three are really any good with a/v fidelity. Title discovery is janky at best. The UIs are a mess, and there's no consensus, on any hardware platform. The Netflix model of mediocrity and high quantity has run its course. Most nights, unless pre-decided and pre-checked for availability, the scrolling to find something worthwhile is seemingly endless. That you have to switch between apps to do so is all the more annoying. I like the Apple TV+ model of paying minimal monthly, and rent any title available. Except, not all titles are available, and all that are available on TV+ in India are CBFC fvcked over, censored, and include the smoking and other "warnings". Ugh. There is no "DVR" functionality replacement for live sports ala Tata Sky with recording. It should be easy to implement. These guys are still living in the Stone Age. Goddamn dinosaurs. We need what Jobs & co. did for music to be done for a/v. Give me all titles under one roof, make them good quality, and let me rent/buy each one as I want. Fvck your worthless subscriptions. And fvck you. [/RANT]
  20. Lol I don’t even know the script, having watched it for about 20 mins. The action, the sound, the actual visuals, nothing worked at all. It really felt like a low budget tv show. Not sure who blew bale to get him to sign. Anyway. There are better avenues to waste your time with.
  21. While I won’t usually just sh*t on things, I agree with Athek. We put it on yesterday, as we were in the mood for light timepass, something that won’t require too much of our attention, and we turned it off within 20 mins. It felt like a b-grade tv show. Something that had no right to follow Ragnarok. Hemsworth deserved better. To top it, the sound mixing was quite pedestrian. I guess they passed it onto interns to master.
  22. Not surprised that the ride was the highlight for you. Let's do a track weekend soon. Street riding is useless, and an unbecoming constraint on the bikes in your garage.
  23. Okay. I don't know exactly what changed. Maybe the mood, the frame of mind, the solitude of private viewing, or the excellent transfer, or, perhaps the fact that I watched it in two parts in two days, but most of my complaints about The Batman on initial viewing have been invalidated. Except for the general emo-ness, Pattison's hammy Bruce, and the forced yet non-existent chemistry with Cat, this is a sweet movie. I liked it. Including the pink panther-esque walk. So much walk. I'll probably call a few friends over and watch it again. Soon. The transfer is that damn good. The Batman is a true system tester. The bass track, the score, the Nirvana riffs, mmmm. And then there's the colour palette. Sub. Lime. I kind of expected, from memory, for the second half to let me down last night after the excellent first half the previous night, but I enjoyed it. My intermission point was the face blast scene, and while ridiculous that the Batman would do that, it's kind of not too, as The Batman could do that. If we're giving him the leeway of being a billionaire who's dedicated his life to this, and who doesn't really care about his own mortality, he could have also created a vibranium-ish suit to withstand point blank large calibre rifle shots and a fkn bomb. In his (tiny) defence, we do see him covering his face with the gauntlets right before the bomb goes off. Anyway. What I'm trying to say is, I quite enjoyed this movie.
