Upgrades require knowledge point. Knowledge point requires stupid tedious tasks. How othe games tackle this, is they give some basic upgrades without tying it into BS side activities, but if you want your character to become strong and cool activities, you do side activities, slightly later in game. By that time, if someone is playing a game, they are already invested in it and enjoy doing those activities. Here they just want us to do those from the start and they are paying homage to a temple or watch back story and some other stuff.

^Typical dumb pony comment. i played it dayone, i bought game and DLC dayone. I dont care even its on gamepass lol. All Im saying, everyone who enjoy base game then its highly recommended to get DLC too it makes overall story experience even better.
