Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds is a tremendously fun golf game, one that should appease either casual or hardcore golf fans. It's an arcadey approach to the sport, for sure, but there's still a good deal of depth in the game that'll give veteran players plenty to work with. There could have been more courses, and the lack of voice support online is somewhat disappointing, but the overall package is a ton of fun and definitely worth picking up.

8.5 Presentation

Great, cartoony look to everything, and there are plenty of club and ball options. More courses would have been nice, though.

8.5 Graphics

The characters are very nicely detailed and quite sharp. The courses also look great, though there are jaggies here and there. Fairly beautiful overall, though.

7.5 Sound

The effects are basic but nice, as is the music.

9.0 Gameplay

The new swing mechanic is a nice addition. It's nearly as deep as it is accessible.

8.5 Lasting Appeal

The online stuff works great, and the game is addicting enough to keep you hooked for a good, long while.

8.9

Great OVERALL

(out of 10 / not an average)

Yes, i think its my most played psp game.

Imho sony should start making a range of hot shots games like tennis, baseball, etc etc like nintendo does with the mario ones.

i have played it's tennis game on ps2 and it was worse, i think they should stick with the golf only :sign_banhim:

In the world of mobile phone gaming, they call this sort of design 'one button gaming', and get breathlessly excited about how it appeals to everyone, not just people who play games. That's absolutely true of Minna no Golf, but it's also true that the game sports sufficient depth to satisfy the most ardent wannabe pro golfer. It's got spin, mapped to the d-pad, and it's got boost shots, which you can use a certain number of times each round to gain a few extra yards. It's got a choice of players, clubs and balls, all of which have an impact on your style of play. And ultimately, it's got the infinite variety of a real game of golf, because wherever your ball lands it will create a subtly different challenge every time.

And that's why, in spite of all the similarities to previous games in the series, the game never runs into the law of diminishing returns. In spite of the fact that all you're doing is pressing a button three times, over and over again, it never gets boring. It would probably be too controversial to call it the best golf game, or the best PS3 game. But on both counts it's a remarkably close call.

Yes, all the rumors are true: Kratos, the one and only, has made his way to Hot Shots Golf… and he’s looking to claim his rightful seat as the God of Golf!

In all honesty, integrating Kratos into Hot Shots Golf was by far one of the best experiences, as we got to work closely with the God of War team and the casts of characters (voice over, animators, etc) that created Kratos in his original form.

If I had to pick one of the most fun parts, it would have to be our VO sessions and watching (listening?) T.C. Carson jump into the Kratos role in a completely new environment… trust me, there were plenty of eye-watering-side-splitting laughs that day…

But aside from VO, the Clap Hanz team paid a great deal of attention to all of Kratos’ characteristics when animating him and hi chain-drivers.

So starting this Thursday, Kratos will make his way down to your local PS3 via download. You can take him out to a nice single player round offline and once you’ve mastered his technique, give it a go online against all the puny mortals that dare defy you.
