Banning Halo: Reach Pirates

It's not a retail leak and only those folks who have a JTAG'd 360 would be able to play it. And those that have a JTAG 360 already know that going on XBL is a direct ban. So it's either System Link or no multiplayer at all. Besides, the population of JTAG consoles is far less compared to those with flashed drives, so I guess Microsoft/Bungie can breathe a bit.

People using both are pirates right? So what's the difference?

For now, their numbers, which is relatively low. So the threat isn't on a massive scale. But let's say if it were a leak like Gears of War 2, which was a good month before it's release, that was definitely a huge concern.

No.....I'm asking what's the difference between Jtag consoles and flashed drives.

I couldn't understand this.

I'm assuming both are modding of consoles(I don't know what's a Jtag). So, both types of consoles will suffer the ban hammer right? So, why do you say the lesser Jtag numbers are favorable as compared to the flashed drive numbers.

Oh OK. JTAG is a hardware mod with which you can run "homebrew" apps, alternate dashboards, play DLC's, XBLA titles, so on and so forth. However, this security flaw was recognised by Microsoft and they had patched it in the 2.0.8XXX dashboard update. So JTAG is not for everyone, but only those console which pass it's requirements. Whereas a firmware flash (DVD Drive) is possible on every 360 console. So based on that, you can estimate how many people will have JTAG consoles and how many can flash their DVD drives. As far as a ban goes, both can face a ban. However, with a firmware flash the chances of getting banned are relatively low compared to JTAG.

I knew modchips were there but not hardware mods that enable homebrew apps to be installed :O

The PS3 better enjoy life while it can.....

Its because MS drops the banhammer near the end of year ie. from september till november.

One can play all they want with a pirated console/game for the rest of the year but these 3 months are when the guys with modded consoles stay off XBL.

This is too much. People who pirate on a regular basis are coming to this thread to express their outrage over others pirating a game. Whats the outrage for fellas? That its leaked or that you cant pirate it yet?
