i-mate reveals Ultimate 8502 and 9502

From Engadget

Well even though we have yet to see three of the five high-end Ultimate smartphones promised by i-mate earlier this year, the company has decided to reveal yet another pair of QWERTY-packing family members, including one -- the 9502 -- that gives the HTC Kaiser / TyTN II a run for its money. Almost identically-spec'ed to what is now the AT&T Tilt (save for the, um, tilt), the quad-band GSM / tri-band HSUPA Windows Mobile 6 handset manages to step up the game by featuring a VGA display along with video out, LED "flash," and standard 2.5-millimeter audio jack. Slightly less impressive but still pretty feature packed, the candybar-shaped Ultimate 8502 sports the same radios (including WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.0), memory configuration (256MB ROM / 128MB RAM) and 400MHz Qualcomm processor as its big brother, but replaces the 3.0 megapixel autofocus camera with a 2.0 megapixel fixed focus and, more importantly, drops the display down to a pedestrian 2.6-inch QVGA. Still, there's a lot to love here, but until we see some pricing and release dates, i-mate, we're not gonna go blending our current phones just yet.

I will explain the whole Bricking thing.

AnySim is an open source application which is used for unlocking the iphone. Now what happened was that previous versions of anySim altered the baseband of the iphone. So those people who had unlocked their iphones using anysim and then updated to 1.1.1 , their iphones got bricked.

Please note that ppl unlocking their iPhones using IPSF are not affected by this problem as IPSF doesn't alter the baseband of the iPhone.

So if you are updating from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 firmware, you need to re-virginze your baseband, then update to 1.1.1. Jailbreak the iphone and then unlock it using anySim. The newer version of AnySim doesn't alter the baseband or anything.

Infact i updated my iphone from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 which is the latest firmware offered by Apple.

Mobile could give you 'Ringxiety'!

Be careful with that mobile phone! While helping you stay connected, the gadget may also end up causing you psychological disorders such as ‘Ringxiety’!

New Delhi: If you have a persistent feeling that your mobile phone is ringing or vibrating even when it is not, chances are high that you might be suffering from a condition called 'Ringxiety.' Considered more to be a psychological disease rather than a physical one, experts say the condition, in which those affected feel a compelling urge to keep frisking pockets and recheck their phones because they feel that their phones are ringing or vibrating, is becoming more prevalent.

A study by scientists at the Los Angeles-based University has proved that excessive use of mobile phones causes 'Ringxiety,' popularly known as 'Phantom Ringing.' Though there is no sample study on the incidence of 'Ringxiety' in India, doctors say given the large chunk of people visiting psychiatrists with such kind of problem at least 25 per cent of all mobile phone users may be those who can hear 'virtual' rings 'Ringxiety' a disease is all out of one's thought and imagination.

The more frequently a person uses a cell phone, the more frequent the Likelihood they hear the phantom ring, says the study. Majority of mobile users are reportedly patients of cardio-vascular and neurological disorders as well, the research concludes.

The study undertaken by Alliant International University involved participants in the age group from 18 to 26, all of whom were heavy mobile users, spending a considerable chunk of time talking or sending text messages.

The result showed that 67 per cent of people suffered from this phenomenon and Japan tops the most affected list. The study also discovered that users who rely on text messaging to be in touch with their friends and loved ones faced a higher level of loneliness and social anxiety.
