Woeful META. Blizzard can't balance anything. kvFcQBA.png

Not even 2 weeks and it's back to aggressive & DROOOOOOD JADE META. The entire ladder is so frustrating and boring to play.

Sums up the entire game at the moment. Sad that one of the coolest theme expansion is being filled by retarded Jade Druid decks. Pity on whoever spent $60+++ on packs.

New expansions live tomorrow.

Dungeon Runs: A new type of Single Player content is being added to the game!

  • Tread carefully, because losing just one match will end your Dungeon Run!
  • Tons of content! 48 unique encounters and a huge assortment of new cards were created just for this mode.
  • It's Free! No purchase required; build a deck worthy of a hero with cards you find along your run.

Freebies

  • All players will receive a Marin the Fox card before the expansion launches.
  • A Golden version of Marin the Fox is available for BlizzCon attendees and Virtual Ticket Holders.
  • Everyone will get one free Legendary weapon.

__

What is a Dungeon Run?

Dungeon Runs are a new type of single player content for Hearthstone, much like an Adventure. We won't be getting an adventure this time around due to Dungeon Runs but they're very similar in idea though Dungeon Runs have a ton of replayability.

  • You'll pick a class to go on your Dungeon Run with.
  • After you defeat a boss in a Dungeon Run, you get extra loot to power your deck up.
  • Passives: Cards that give you a bonus for your run.
  • Treasures: Powerful cards that are added to your Dungeon Run deck.
  • Cards: You'll get to pick between themed bundles of cards to add to your Dungeon Run deck.
  • There are 48 unique encounters in total, which are further augmented by the variance in cards you play with each time.
  • Losing to a boss in a Dungeon ends your current run.
  • If you win a Dungeon Run with each of the 9 classes, you unlock a card back!

__

Some fun cards but overall meh. Let's see if this bring any good change to the ladder.

Kripp will likely be doing 24-hour stream. HrzknI6.png

The game has become consistently expensive and with the removal of story-based expansion and adding card based, it has become worse for new players.

It simply doesn't welcome new players anymore unless:

  • You buy packs. Lots of packs.
  • Or spend a lot of time grinding daily to compete.

The old users have managed to collect plenty of cards/full collection bar new expansion and they continue to stomp on the ladder. That said, the game is still fun to play casually which is what most do these days. Plenty of decks and fun cards have been added.

If you are re-starting, I would suggest you NOT to craft anything big (such as legendary/epics) for at least a week after expansion release as the META will take time to settle down.

The early days are easily the best part of the expansion as everyone will be trying new stuff before META kicks in and makes the game stale as usual. This period longs up to 3-4 weeks max.

You have 3 ways to play.

  • Ladder: you will need cards. A lot of cards including legendary cards which are expensive. This takes time but eventually, you will get there as long you grind daily.
  • Arena: this is more fun but also requires experience and good drafting skill. You can use heartharena tool while drafting to know which cards are better to pick. The entry fee is $1.99 or 150 gold. You can cycle and play unlimited as long you win 5+ times each run.
  • Casual: ignore arena fully and stop ladder once you reach rank 20 to get the monthly card back. You basically just make FUN decks and play casual mode. You will still get stomped but not so bad compared to ranked. Apart from that, you can play against AI (some of them are worth it) and weekly brawl (free pack).

Casual is a great way to jump back as you still get 10g per 3 wins and also slowly build up your collection.

If you are planning to spend money, pre-order the expansion to get 20 extra packs, get the starter pack and some classic packs. Dust all the WILD cards since you cannot simply compete in the Wild format as it covers all 8 expansions and story mode making it frustrating for newcomers.

Blizzard is adding new friend deck share mode. If you have any friend with a nice collection, you can play against him with his own deck. Pretty nice to get to know all cards and also have fun with non-meta decks.

My advice is quit while you are ahead before you get addicted or don't play it more than casual level nor spend a dime on this game ever.

I played this for 2-3+ years but Blizzard and the game got greedy with each expansion and the game got worse. Lots of balancing issues, terrible meta after meta, removal of story cards for more paid cards, creators left, dogshite expansions, list goes on. It came to a point where the game was no longer fun and it turned into cash cow for Blizzard.

It went from one of best CCG to one of worst CCG game. Even if you play casually, you can't have fun without spending $$$ as most of the fun cards are locked behind paid or horrible grind. Don't even bother with comp without investing money and time. Terrible waste of everything. If you are new F2P player, then it is grind-grind-grind till you die and you'll still never catch up, and even if you can for a little while, you won't keep up. Your cards are never going to be good enough. You'll never have ALL the pieces needed to make a great deck.

Such a shame but expected from Blizzard ruining games. Typical.

Very highly recommend Legends of Runeterra if anyone is still playing HS or looking for a good CCG.

Riot has done an fantastic job and best part is you can't P2W your way. The card system is great. Very friendly. The way to earn cards is perfect. Less RNG bullshite. Way more fun and combos and factions.
