Except for the hunters area at unknown time and academia 4XX all areas were pretty small. Ff13 was leniar but when you get to pulse in 11 chapter, there is a huge area to explore. That's more open world than ff13-2. Story wise it should be more related to 13-3 I guess. 13 was like separate chapter. 2&3 have continued story.
