Hear, hear!
Metal gear solid V is more far cry than metal gear.
Not that I have a problem cuz I found it terribly hard to get into previous metal gear games but I can see why people found it disappointing.

Also, I have a feeling this one's gonna suck hard.

Both pale in comparison to the true masterpiece Sons of Liberty. Snake Eater feels like an apology for all the craziness in SoL, and GoP is neither here nor there. None of them go to the deep end of Kojima's madness like SoL does.

Phantom Pain is just...there. Good sandbox, worst MGS.

I like it for gameplay. No game can touch amazing stealth gameplay in MGSV.  Gameplay wise I like it way more than MGS 3 and 4.

Amount of gameplay options it gives you is unmatched. No other stealth game gives you this much freedom.

Just checking all the boxes. A battle royale mode and it's all set.

It's using Metal Gear name coz it's popular that's it. I'm interested coz it's using MGSV gameplay mechanics with survival and Base building systems. If gameplay is as good as MGSV then many will enjoy it.

Metal Gear Survive’s extra character save slots cost $10

Yes, you really do have to pay for an extra character slot in Metal Gear Survive

Purchasing additional character save slots in Metal Gear Survive requires spending SV Coins, the game’s unique currency. Konami is selling those coins in batches as small as 100 (for $0.99) up to 6,000 (for $49.99). Unlocking an additional save slot requires dropping 1,000 SV Coins, which means you’ll have to pay roughly $10. (And if you do pay $9.99, you’ll get 1,150 SV Coins. There’s no option to just buy a nice, round 1,000 coins to unlock an additional character save.)

Nice use of METAL GEAR. I8zaQsm.png

62 META score. hcOMWNi.gif

  • Thanks to overbearing hunger and thirst systems, unintelligent enemy AI, and an utterly forgettable story, Metal Gear Survive is the worst game in the series yet.
  • Not the Metal Gear fans will be used to in terms of either quality or action. But despite a few interesting highlights, it's just too boring to get very angry about.
  • Metal Gear Survive had the potential to grow into something unique but now it's just an uninspired mish-mash of poorly balanced systems that translates to an experience that feels like a chore. The story is frustrating, the only aspects that are great are the ones carried over from Metal Gear Solid 5 and the overall gameplay loop is monotonous. Metal Gear Survive ironically won't survive the test of time, though in several years' time you'll probably not be able to play it anyway.
  • Metal Gear Survive is a brave move for Konami and a decent survival game – it's just not particularly fun. If you like the more abrasive side of the medium, give it a go. Everyone else should probably stay away…

  • From a horribly botched launch to clunky UI and a hunger/thirst meter that actively tries to kill you, there's so much this game does wrong that it's hard to focus on what Metal Gear Survive does right.

  • Metal Gear Survive should have been a free-to-play game just like Grasshopper's Let it Die or an actual Metal Gear release. It doesn't accomplish either aim.
