Franchises want to pay top dollars for the players who confirm full season availability and have marketing value.

IPL has come to the point where marketability of the players is valued equally as their match winning capabilities.

And Players are making a lot more than their auction price. The bonuses paid to players is kept separate from the contract money. Like Virat gets 3-4cr from RCB on top of his known remuneration.

We gotta keep an eye on Rishabh Pant, his IPL/LO perf is not so impressive but he has tremendous brand value, so hoping that he will soon break into 15cr  zone.

Maxwell is an exiting player, I think RCB has made a nice business decision.

Lol, no. They have enough "marketable" players to not spend 14.5 crore on a player like Maxwell. Such "business decisions" are the reasons why they don't win sh*t

Biggest challenge for RCB is to replace Kohli as a captain without hurting his ego.

Kohli will definitely exit if his captaincy is talen away.

But looks like RCB management has made peace with the fact that they may never win the trophy but remain one of the most exciting teams in the tournament.

Winning is not that important, the revenue from broadcast gets shared with franchises, they get lion’s share from ticket  sales. You need to win/remain an exciting team for your other things to work, sponsorship, valuation...where the real cheese is.

its like your startup business, no VC wants you to turn profit, they want you to be remain visible for valuation to grow.

Maxwell hardly holds any cache in India anymore. Unless, you see him as a match winning player, you shouldn't be going for him. He is no Gayle or Kohli or ABD

Definitely, RCB sees things differently.

We just don’t know their parameters.I think ppl want player like him on middle/lower-middle order.

And there was a bidding war, involving CSK for 15 mins, wasn’t like that he was given 14cr right away.
