Movie Discussion Thread Vol. 2
You didn't do full research. From 1998 to 1999 Vajpayee was in power for 1 year. United Front government fell in 1998, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, won the general election that followed. Vajpayee government won again in 1999 and stayed in power till2004. Sarfarosh was released under Bjp rule. Check the link i posted of Aamir khan, he said clearly before 1998, we were told not to name Pakistan or ISI in movies. Sarfarosh was possible coz Congress was not in power. Border is only exception, but i guess that time Congress couldn't do much about Border as in 1997 they were busy managing very fragile unstable Coliation of United Front by giving outside support. -

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was sworn in & took office in October 1999. Sarfarosh was released in April 1999. Also I.K. Gujral was the PM (a congress pawn) when Border Released while still under congress support. I know movies like Dhurandhar wouldn’t be green lit if it was congress (let alone Kashmir or any other files). But it is what it is. Sarfarosh was a very good start to tell the world how ISI is bleeding India & BJP had nothing to do with it & it wouldn’t have been possible without a Khan of Bollywood. Truth should never be overshadowed by noise. -

The violence in Dhurandhar did nothing to me. Guess I've become too desensitised. Agree with the 26/11 feature though, and could understand the great sacrifice of our Indian agents across the world, while scum like Morarji Desai get rewarded with Bharat Ratna in this sh*thole of a country. Even Sunny Leone would be more deserving than him. -

Yeah these movies hit hard..Evokes lot of emotions. In dhurandhar, Indian RAW Agent getting tortured and 26/11 scene, both were easily the most difficult scenes for me to watch. If it was Pakistani or some other gangster getting tortured, i wouldn't have cared but when he said - Indian agent. I just couldn't watch it. And that 26/11 scene was absolutely gutt wrenching. Scene where a**hole indian journalists were live streaming entire NSG operations for terrorists in Pakistan was making my blood boil and useless coward government that time did nothing to stop the broadcast or avenge the death of 200 people. Anyway, kudos to Aditya Dhar for making such bold films. He dont care if he faces backlash or criticism for such movies. Indian cinema needs such directors. Same goes for Vivek Agnihotri.
