dceite
Hello guys, I will be shifting to Bangalore in a couple of months. So far, i have not dabbled my hands on online gaming in my PS3. Part of the reason being my low bandwidth TATA photon connection. I am thinking of getting a better broadband connection with higher limit in Bangalore. I'll be staying near Hebbal/HBR Layout/RT nagar area. What should be ideal data bandwitdh (speed+data limit) of my broadband connection for casual online gaming on PS3 ? Pls also suggest good broadband providers in Bangalore. Thanks!
dylanjosh
512kpbs is enough, sometimes even 256. Ping is important
AtheK
4 mbps would do, airtel is pretty good.
Insane_killer06
4 mbps would do, airtel is pretty good. I guess, he wants to know what is the minimum requirement for online gaming. OP - minimum is 256 kbps but 512 would be good

Abdulah
I have mtnl 512kbps , and i am lucky enough to have very good pings in comparison to friends because of mtnl ! though it becomes pain to download 10gb's of data with 512kbps . So 512kbps is more than enough for online gaming !
Insane_killer06
well he was talking Broadband I was a customer of Airtel too. 512 kbps unlimited at 649/month 4 mbps at <1500 wih data capping Those assholes once screwed up so bad that I threw my modem

Nikushimi
Any broadband connection would do. Bandwidth doesn't matter, ping is everything.
harjas
i have mtnl 512kbps wifi connection and get good pings but 512kbps is not good enough for downloading so i guess il maybe replace it with their freedom plans(2mbps at night 512kbps at day) or the plan which gives 1mbps all the time

dceite
What about the download limits? How much data is consumed approximately, say for 1 hour of gaming?
Insane_killer06
Not much. But it's the download which consumes most.
thedarkrider
What about the download limits? How much data is consumed approximately, say for 1 hour of gaming? with around 10gb data u can easily spend a month gaming considering u don't download anything other than the game updates IMO.. nuf
Could you guys please throw in some ping values to an Indian server and a server located outside of India (from pingtest.net), just that I have a 1 Mbps connection from MTNL and even though the ping (from delhi to mumbai) is only 8 ms, I do get a huge lag while playing FIFA (which is the only game I play online). My ping increases to 300 ms at 3000 mi (pingtest.net). Also what games do you guys play. Do FPS games provide a better experience (lower lag) than FIFA? Sarath
I have found Airtel to be really good. My friends on ACT broadband and BSNL are facing lots of issues. Although my own experience with BSNL for online gaming has been good. Get 512kbps or more. It doesn't really matter how much more than 512kbps the speed is. Check with your friends and see which is good in your area as service varies a lot between different areas.
