Alien: Isolation

Just finished this game last night. Dear lord, it's been the most tense, frustrating and thrilling experience since Dead Space 1. Incredible game. I came out feeling exhausted at the effort I put in to finish this spiritual successor to Alien. The fact that the frustration and sense of dread accompanied by severe exhaustion parallels the experiences of Ellen Ripley in Alien makes this adventure a true sequel to Alien much more so than Aliens, which while incredible, is without a shred of doubt an action thriller having lost most of the survival horror elements after being Cameron'd.

Wouldn't have figured Creative Assembly to get the job done especially given their polar opposite (wholesomely incredible) pedigree - hello, Shogun. Best game I've played this year especially because it's a genre long past it's prime. Now if only Silent Hills and Until Dawn deliver we might just be able to see something of a resurgence.

Spent near around 4 minutes staring at a vent thinking there was a alien in there....later realized it was water on the ground reflecting into a vent. :|
