Watch Dogs

As we all are eagerly waiting to plunge into the hyper-connected world of Watch Dogs, with Chicago city as the backdrop, let me ask a Trivia question: Name one 'open-world' game in the history of 3D games, which used Chicago city as its premise. (Answer should be only for open world games. For eg. Hitman Absolution is not open-world even though it had Chicago as part. Actually there are two such games which I know of.) Begin! :)

Dont know another one knew midtown madness because i remember driving like crazy in Chicago streets :P used to stunts a lot in the game especially bridge jumps :D

Haha...Midtown Madness was my all time fav game in childhood. Ya jumping bridges, driving Volkswagen Beetle or ford mustang and smashing all glasses and find secret shortcuts. Also the use of cheatcodes to keep the cops silent and away from my wheels! It was also the first 3D game I ever played. I was in the 9th grade! :D

And MM was then followed by Midtown Madness 2 in London and San Francisco. Both versions of Midtown Madness will remain close to heart. And now when we get hands on Watch Dogs, we'll realize that from Midtown Madness to Watch Dogs, in past 15 years open world games have become so much more detailed and dynamic. Hats-off to all the creators of these kind of open world games. :arigato:

Driver 2 (PS1) had Chicago as one of the locations.

Disrupt engine used in Watch Dogs was initially intended to be used for a new Driver game but that game got cancelled or maybe got expanded as Watch Dogs.

Absolutely correct. The second game is Driver 2. I didn't play it at all, as I never had PS1 or Gameboy Advance. My only option was PC, later I did play Driver: Parallel lines which is set in New York, on my Ps2 and the game was pathetic, specially the graphics.

One more trivia about Midtown Madness- it was made by Angel Studios which then left Microsoft to form Rockstar San Diego, under Rockstar Games now under Take-Two Interactive.

Midtown Madness 1 and 2 was followed by Midnight club series and the same studio is responsible for Red Dead Redemption. The studio also formed the RAGE technology group which developed the Rage Engine which is used in almost all modern Rockstar games including GTA 4 and 5 (both made by R* North.)

So actually you can call Midtown Madness as the Father of successful 'open-world' games. :D

Lets hope Watch Dogs is successful too.

What drought fool :P May is flooded with games.

Aside from this and wolf? Nothing that interests me, unfortunately.

This whole year has been pretty dry.
