Black Creator Working On New FPS

Recommended Posts

Codemasters is working on a new shooter IP with Black creator Stuart Black at the helm, according to a CVG report. An industry vet, Stuart previously served as the senior designer for EA Criterion’s PS2 FPS hit Black.

The publisher has also recruited Tom Gillo, former Game Director at SCE London Studio. Gillo will oversee the EGO engine-powered project as executive producer. Currently in search of additional talent, Codemasters has launched a recruitment drive for developers to join ranks at its UK-based Guildford Studio and work on the yet-unnamed title.

No word on platform specifics, but PS3 and Xbox 360 are safe bets.

The game itself was all about the graphics... not much gameplay. Hope this time atleast they get the plot and gameplay in place.

Graphics, gun models and sounds. Sadly the rest of the game didn't hold up.

I loved Black. This obviously won't be Black 2, coz EA probably owns that IP.

I hope they implement the EGO engine well in this game. I haven't played OF2, but the graphics came across as quite ordinary. Or is it that the EGO engine can't do much more than racing games?

peace

Then rather than importing it, buy it as an Xbox Original on the 360 (if it isn't discontinued already). I think the visuals are improved as well.

Nope. Xbox Originals dont have improved visuals. The processing done on Originals is the same as the console does if you insert a B/C compatible Xbox1 game disc.

I have downloaded Black from Xbox Originals. Its fantastic and is as close to a current-gen game graphics-wise as you could have gotten on the Xbox1 (apart from Halo 2).

Black creator: current FPSs are "f***ing boring"

Stuart Black, formerly Senior Designer on cult Criterion FPS Black and now Game Director of an all-new shooter at Codemasters, has told OXM that he's bored with current shooting status quo.

"There's a lot of cover-based shooters out at the moment," he told us in a recent interview. "But when a guy hunkers down behind something, you've just got to sit there and wait for him to pop his head up. Pops up, couple of bullets to his head, pops back down again.. and I'm waiting for him to pop back up again? F***ing boring. I can't be bothered hanging around like that."

Needless to say, he's got plenty of ideas about how to fix this at Codemasters - where he's heading a studio containing several members of the Black team as well as alumni of Sony and Black Rock. We aren't allowed to say what they're working on yet, but details will be coming soon.
