No point of releasing it in september bruv. GTA5, Killzone mercenery, COD Ghosts, BF4, FIFA/PES etc are all coming in Oct-Nov And this game hasn't got that much hype -_- December would be the best time in order to maximize the sales :D

P.S - I want it in September too :(

January best time :P

Dont think any AAA title coming in jan

But BigAnt would surely wanna release the game before Ac13. I think Ross has decided to stick to his release date/month irrespective of when the other games are releasing, a theory which is also consistent with what he said regarding the game being a week or two late/early depending upon retailers plans regarding other big games like GTA etc.

Personally I feel its a risky move, as the AAA titles we are talking about are not Single Player ones which people finish in a week and then look for a new game.....all these titles have a strong multiplayer component, thus making them a long term prospect, therefore putting lesser time and money available in the market (I am assuming that the general audience would be more focused on these proven titles than cricket, specially since none of the previous cricket games have delivered the goods). But then Ross is in a better position to judge that than me. It will be interesting though, I hope it turns out to be the right move.

for me DBC 14>>>GTA5, Killzone mercenery, COD Ghosts, BF4, FIFA/PES et all. i'm sure it must be similar for alot of cricket game fans

i feel they need to release before AC13 coz if they release after that then the casual cricket gamers who dont know abt DBC will not wait & just buy that. then if that game is poor they'll be pissed off & not buy any other cricket game or if its decent they'll be happy enough with that (plus there'll be the other games competing for their time so they'll feel what'll they do with 2 cricket games)

whereas if they were to release in Sep/early Oct then --

1) the hardcore cricket game fans will buy it immediately

2) some of the casual gamers will buy it immediately coz its the first cricket game in a while

3) for those cricket gamers who are waiting for AC13 or who dont know about DBC : all the good reviews & positive word of mouth will build & DBC will have the breathing space before release of AC13 to capitalise on it

as for competition with other games. well that'll always be there. some other AAA title or other will always be releasing & with next gen around the corner then that'll also compete. if DBC gets good reviews & positive word of mouth then i'm sure people will be intrigued & buy it to play in between other games

For true cricket fans, I am pretty sure that would be the case. But do we really want the game to sell to the true cricket fans 'only'? I just cant imagine the scenario where the release of such 'already proven AAA multiplayer (along with single player) titles' releasing close to each other would not impact the sales of a game that is already niche and has a bad past record (I mean cricket games here....not BigAnt).

Mikey Merren (DBC14 producer) has been trying out the first person cam view these days. When asked on PC about his experience, here is what he replied:

With first person, I'll just give you a little story, which is why I'm shouting at the screen at work I had a spinner at one end and a medium pacer at the other, playing the bad ball and jogging along quite nicely. The next over there's a change in bowler, it's a quick and so I'm ready to block a few shots to start with. The bowler starts his run up, I'm watching, ready, looking through the grill of my helmet, the bowler delivers the ball, I play the shot and midway through the swing I hear the stumps get smashed. It was a 158.5kph ball. I see in the replay that I might have been a little late on the shot

The feeling of speed and being immersed in the game with first person batting isn't something I can get across enough, it's the feeling that you want to move that little bit closer to the screen, your concentration level goes up just a notch, because if you don't do those things you are making the long walk back to the pavilion very quickly.

3rd person cameras have that extra view, you get to see more of the surroundings, but first person, that's cricket.

Is big ant game going to be like trine cricket or hussy's cricket life? Will we get a release date and see the game?

If you haven been able to see it so far, chances are you won't see it in the future as well. Time to meet an eye specialist I would say :P.

Anyways, it's safe to assume now that the game won't be releasing in September :(
