Logic is simple. Game is first party only if made by studio owned by first party studios. Sony helped and published Helldivers, Yes. Sony will get full credit for publishing the game but that doesn't make it first party studios game. I mean Sony CEO himself said this year we will not have any first party games. Helldivers wasn't major when the first game came out, didn't even breach 7K concurrent players on steam. 2 however is a surprise success, no one expected it to reach that high. Stellar Blade was bankrolled by Sony when ShiftUp was about to go under. Game wouldn't exist without PS funding, on top of that it had localization, marketing etc by PS. It's only on PS on launch and probably PC in time, but will never come to Xbox. SONY first party studios are struggling big time. Mass layoffs, studio closures and falling profit margins are clear indicators that Sony first party studio in clear disarray. Some First party games struggling to break even, so they have release on PC to break even. 3. Sony will rely on AA 2nd party exclusives more than first party AAA exclusives from now on to make whatever little profit they can make. Ponies here are living in a pony land where they all giving BJ to Jim Ryan and Yoshida. They need to come out of dream land and accept the reality. Even Sony backed studios are selling handsomely now. Every 3rd party game is by default sony exclusive now. 2) Layoffs are happening across the board. Google, MS, TCS, IBM,etc everywhere layoffs? So will MS sell Azure at a discounted price? No na? Use brain bro. 3) Sony is smart. They are identifying good projects and let their Big AAA stuff get a breather. Now there is no pressure on putting AAA soon as Sony backed and all third are by default exclusives so there is no any shortage of games which gives that extra time for ND,SSM,etc to put out a stellar product.
