Look at how gorgeous the game looks now. People playing this for the first time are going to have a absolutely fantastic time with it. After spending 320 hours on the PS3 version, I'm not sure if I'd ever have that much time to invest in the PC version, but a great job from Capcom to deliver the product on PC in style. :)

Looks amazing , This game should have always had a PC version from the start. Everyone said the only thing really holding the game back was the technical flaws. But hey hopefully future RPGs they make will come for sure now.

Depends on what you're comparing it against. The game is more than 3 years old with an engine that is even older. If you compare the technical aspects from then and now, the difference is quite huge (and apparent). However, if you're pitting it against the current generation line-up then it won't match up. Then again, the point of this port was for the PC audience to get a taste of this fantastic RPG in it's true form and by the looks of it, Capcom hasn't disappointed. Personally, I feel the visual bump alongside the boost in frame rates is enough to justify getting this game. Plus with the Steam community already being so massive, the pawn community should be beaming with life in no time.

FAQ from Steam board:

Q) Does the game still have letterboxing?

A) PC version now features full screen rendering without letterboxing on standard 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen monitors.
Q) Is the Eternal Ferrystone and bonus items/gears available in the PC version?
A) Yes! Bonus Items immediately accessible are: Swordman’s Ring, Daggerist’s Ring, Staff-Bearer’s Ring, The Lion’s Spine, Robe of Enlightenment, Wavering Cloth, Vagabond Armor, Tiara of Enlightenment, Ruminator’s Monocle, Jester’s Cap, and Fiend-luring Incense. Completing the first escort quest and reaching Gran Soren will unlock the following: Eternal Ferrystone, Set of Fop’s Trek Wear, Voldoan Armor, Priest Vestments, Lady’s Trek Wear, Queen’s Clothing, and Nun Vestments.
Q) What languages are supported in-game? Any plans to implement additional localization? What about voiceover?
A) The game supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese text as they were originally available on the console version. There are currently no plans to add other languages. The game includes English voiceover. Japanese VO unfortunately is not supported due to licensing restrictions.
Q) What’s the maximum frame rate supported by the game?
A) Dragon’s Dogma currently supports up to 150 frames per second, which means the game can take full advantage of 144Hz monitors provided you have a capable PC. Please note an upper limit has been imposed at 150 fps in order to avoid any potential game-breaking issues. (e.g., physics interaction and rendering error)
Q) What is the maximum resolution supported?
A) The game supports arbitrary resolutions exposed through Windows. We’ve only tested up to 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution, but the game theoretically should work beyond that provided you have a capable graphics card and monitor that supports it.
Q) Can I use my saves from Xbox 360 or PS3?
A) No. Saves are not directly compatible with the PC version.
Q) Does the game support modding? Any plans to integrate with Steam Workshop?
A) Dragon’s Dogma does not officially provide mod functionality nor tools to enable community mods. This is primarily due to limitations on the proprietary MT Framework engine and MTF development tools used to create the game. Unfortunately, tools only exist as a full-on development suite, contains licensed middleware solutions, fonts, and assets that cannot be sub-licensed, and therefore commissioned for internal use only.
Q) What’s Capcom’s stance on fan-made mods?
A) We won’t stop modders from tinkering around with the Steamworks edition of the game. The act of modding Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and use of modded content is not officially warranted or supported by Capcom. Play at your own risk.
Q) What DLCs are included? Are there any plans for future DLCs?
A) Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen for Steam is the complete package. There is no additional content to purchase beyond the base game! All previously released DLCs on the console, including pre-order exclusives and bonus content, are all baked into the game.
Q) Does the game feature Rift Crystal microtransaction like the console versions?
A) No. Microtransaction model has been removed completely for the PC version. Players can earn Rift Crystals through normal gameplay via loot drops, quest completion, and online Pawn rentals.
Q) Does the game include fast travel?
A) Yes! The fast travel system has been revamped and became a lot more accessible with the release of Dark Arisen expansion content. Several Port Crystals (these are your jump portals) can be found throughout the adventure and placed anywhere on the world map as you see fit. In addition, price of the Ferrystone are has been reduced significantly from 20,000 to 2,000 gold pieces. Even better, we are now including the unlimited-use Eternal Ferrystone which can be unlocked after completing the quest “Off with its Head.” The item can be found in the Storage which can be accessed from the Gran Soren Union Inn.
Q) Does the game include the Berserk armor and weapon set?
A) Unfortunately, the Berserk gear is not included in the game due to licensing restrictions.
Q) What controllers are supported natively? Will my gamepad work?
A) Dragon’s Dogma supports both XInput and DirectInput-based controllers. This means popular gamepads such as the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Steam Controller, and PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers will work right out of the box. No XInput remapper app required.
Q) Will the game run on my laptop?
A) While the game does not officially support laptops, the game should run well on modern laptop systems equipped with a dedicated graphics chip. We’ve played DDDA on late model laptops such as the Alienware 14/15/17 which came equipped with GTX 960M, 970M, and 980M, and they appear to run well at 1080p/60fps (960M may require some adjustment to LOD/draw distance settings to achieve a solid 60fps). wbacon has briefly played DDDA on a 3.5 years old ASUS Ultrabook laptop with a Core i7 + GT 650M chip where ‘Medium’ settings seems to be the sweet spot for running the game at 1080p with a reasonably stable 30fps (or 720p/60 with ‘Low’ settings). Laptops without a dedicated graphics chip will have to further pare down graphics and resolution settings to get the game to run at a playable frame rate. Anecdotally speaking, the game seems to run okay on the aforementioned ASUS laptop when forced to run on Intel HD3000 Integrated Graphics at 720p, 30fps cap, and all other graphics settings set to low. Compatibility and performance will vary depending on other factors so there’s no guarantee; at the end of the day, you’re on your own when it comes to laptops. Capcom does not warrant nor officially provide technical support for PCs that doesn’t meet the official system requirement. If you’re still unsure, search the forums or ask other forum members who may have already tried the game on a similarly spec’d laptop.
Q) Are there any regional content differences?
A) No. There is only one version of the game. Whether you buy physical or digital, the game will be identical worldwide.
Q) Can you bring back “Into Free –Dangan–” theme song from the original Dragon’s Dogma?
A) The song was only licensed for the original Dragon’s Dogma on Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2012. You can still become the Dangan by purchasing the album or single through official channels such as iTunes[itunes.apple.com].
Q) How do I access Hard Mode?
A) Hard Mode is now unlocked by default and can be accessed from the main menu.
Q) While pawns have endearing personality and are great to have them around in my adventures, they’re a bit talkative. Any way to shut them up?
A) PC version adds a new option that completely silences the Pawns. They will only speak when talked to. To enable this feature, simply go to Options -> Gameplay and set “Pawn Chatter” to OFF.
Q) What Steamworks features are supported?
A) Dragon’s Dogma supports Steam Achievements (59 total), Steam Cloud save, Steam Controller, Steam Big Picture Mode, and of course, Trading Cards!
Q) Does the game support more than one save slot?
A) No. The pawn trading system and interaction with the Rift server was designed around a single save and player profile. While hot-swapping save file outside of the game is technically possible, this will cause synchronization issues with the pawn you have uploaded to the Rift or shared out to friends and other community members.

Can anyone who played the game list some beginner tips for PC players just like alpha did for witcher?

Few things u need to know.

> You will have to create a pawn in the beginning, choose his/her vacation(class) the opposite of urs. If u select fighter make pawn as mage. Assassin class is best imo.

> Customize ur pawn regularly and give items for them to use. Along with main pawn u can choose 2 more pawns but can't upgrade them. So change those pawns reguraly to match ur level.

> Pawns annoy u saying crap during missions. So disable that if u don't want that feature.

> In the beining do the quests in the moining, its time consuming to travel around the world during nights. Also carry lantrans during nights or when u go into dungeons. They r very important.

> Apparantly PC version will have plenty portcrystals. They enable fast travel so use them form the beginning.

Game explains everything neatly. Even inventory is easy to manage. Play it on normal, hard mode is a real drag.

Can anyone who played the game list some beginner tips for PC players just like alpha did for witcher?

If you're familiar with the RPG universe, then this game has almost all the common aspects you can find in most games. I'll list a few things which helped me in the beginning:

Gran Soren Exploration - Gran Soren is the capital city in the main game. It houses most of the shops and NPCs. Be sure to explore all it's areas to find out where everyone is located, as you'll be frequently visiting this place. You'll reach this place very early in the game, so best familiarize yourself with it.

Vocation selection - Simply put, vocation is your class. Pick anyone you want depending on your play-style. However, once you hit level 10, you'll have the option to select hybrid vocations and this is when things start to get interesting. It's a vocation which blends 2 different classes to form a unique class. For instance, in the above video that I posted, you can witness a hybrid class called 'Mystic Knight'. It's a combination of skills from a Mage and a Fighter. So if you like playing as a mage but crave for some melee combat too then you know your hybrid vocation. Don't shy away from trying out any and every vocation the game has to offer. Every class has something different to offer and your stat growth is also governed by the class you use.

Pawn (to the rescue!) - One of the most brilliant and creative additions this game has brought in the RPG arena. Pawn can be your biggest asset at the start of the game and also a life saver (literally!). It's your NPC assistant who has a mind of it's own. You'll have the option to select your main pawn who you can customize as you wish and 2 others who you can either chose from the game world randomly or hire from the Dragon's Dogma online Pawn community. Make full use of these pawns as they can get you out of tricky situations. Be sure to take a mage/sorcerer pawn with you as they have healing skills which will help you a lot in tough battles. Your pawn can't revive you if you fall, but you can revive them. Your main pawn gains world knowledge the more you bring him/her along with you on your quests. This would help in their understanding of how to deal with enemies and the navigation of the game world. This directly translates into them providing you tips if you're stuck on a fight or left stranded somewhere.

Lantern is your friend - Night venturing in this game is dark; awfully dark. So always carry a lantern with a good amount of oil stocked in your inventory, if you choose to explore at night. Also be cautions that some enemies would only appear at night time and would beat the crap out of you. So always be on guard.

Manual Save - I can't stress this enough; Keep saving manually. There are auto save points, but they are random and unpredictable. Since the travel system in this game (on the consoles) was very rigid, an untimely death would send you back to the beginning. Manual saving ensures you resume from the same point.

Don't be afraid to run away - You may feel the need to be a masochistic hero all the time, but don't push yourself in this game. At lower levels, some of the peasant looking bandits will pummel you to death, or an ogre or a cyclops. Heck, even a Goblin is no exception. Don't underestimate anything. If you venture into an unknown area where you don't think you're doing enough damage, get the f*ck out of there and come back later.

Fast Travel - Right, so this was a much debated topic when the original game first released. The fast travel in this game is largely dependent on the placement of port crystals and the use of ferry stones. Port crystals are obtained during your normal play-through and these can be placed on any open ground in the game world for you to fast travel to that spot. A ferry stone is to be used to port yourself from one port crystal to another location. I'm not sure how they have changed this on the PC version, but in the console version, we could only place 10 port crystals at any given time. So we had to choose our locations wisely. A ferry stone costs 1k gold for direct purchase. However, there was a bonus gift called the 'Eternal ferrystone' on the console version for the people who already had the original game and re-purchased Dark Arisen. This ferrystone had unlimited use. I hope it's directly accessible in the PC version as it would make your travel extremely cheaper.

Online pawn community - Probably the best part of this game. No, it's not multiplayer co-op. But this allows your main pawn to be hired by other people and vice versa. This is the reason who you need to get your pawn in shape. A well developed pawn has a lot of chance to be hired by other people to assist them in their quest. When they release your pawn, they have the option to provide it with a gift. Now this can be anything from a shitty material from the inventory to a shiny new piece of gear/loot, depending on the person hiring your pawn.

Heed your pawns advise - A lot of hate is given to the pawn chatter, which is true to a good extent. However, they can offer you some good pointers on what techniques would work against certain enemies if you're stuck in a fight. For example, a cyclops weak spot is.....? Easy, it's eye. A pawn, while assisting in your fight, makes observations, learns of it's weakness and informs you about the same. They can also tell you if an enemy is weak to a certain attack like Hydra being weak to fire. So don't mute them out too early.

Bitterblack Isle - The Dark Arisen DLC expansion area. The holy (or rather unholy) grail of difficulty spike in this game. I won't spoil anything here, but do not and I repeat, DO NOT venture into this area until you have a good end game gear and/or have extreme patience. I'm serious, there are a lot of enemies that can practically one shot you to death (pun intended). This is also the place where you'll get the best possible loot in the game. It's hard as balls, but take it from me, you'll spend more time here than you'll ever do in the main game. It's extremely addictive. Take your time when you visit it.

Inventory management - This game does not offer unlimited inventory for your main character. So offload your undesired material at your resting Inn. You can also use your pawn as your pack mule. But don't overburden him/her or they will suffer with reduced movement speed and slow stamina regeneration.

Explore and then some more - I shouldn't be explaining this part. ;)

Side quests begone - The side quests in this game, for me, were utterly useless. Most of them are either quests akin to contracts in Witcher games or escort quests or find 'X' amount of 'X-rated' stuff kind of shite, which gets boring before you even know it. Sure they grant you some XP and gold (and some decent items at times), but honestly, you have much better ways of getting all those later (read: Bitterblack Isle exploration :D).

Multiple playthrough - Not really a beginners tip, but good to know information. You can try hard mode, speed run or simply try a new game plus. Hit level 200 on your character.

Patience - is a virtue and just the the Souls game, this game also demands a fair bit of it in the beginning. In fact, I think this required more patience than any soul game I have played.

Lastly, just enjoy the game. It's one of the last gems that Capcom was able to churn out before going full DmC on us. Good luck. :)
