Conversion programme still exist. It just Conversion ratio is 2:1 now i think for core to ultimate (exact details on website) and you cant get 1 $ deal anymore.

 

Now You get 2 years of core/gold for 4000Rs and then get 1 month of Ultimate for 800Rs you get 2 years of ultimate again.

 

But since you cant play many games, there's no reason to renew it. Waste of money.

It wasn’t really an “offer” either coz they never officially promoted it.

 

It was kinda that weird thing that everyone knew but not even spoken by journalists & shills!!

 

Everyone kept saying it was too good an offer to be true but price point was always said to be $15 a month.

Which wasn’t good at all for what was being offered from 2018-2024 up until Black Ops 6.

Basically quitting every market where they can’t smell legal trouble.

 

For other’s they’ll launch the OEM in 2026.

 

Don’t keep very high hopes for that device in India.

There never was since XB360 in 2005-2010.

 

Those were the only golden years when Xbox was a must.

 

I still have my XB360 lying around at my cousin’s.

 

One hell of run those 5 years were…..ruined by corporate greed & then foolishness.

Xbox failed and MS is backing out of hardware themselves.

But who's to say OEMs won't be good. MS never took Xbox in India seriously, maybe these brands will not make the same mistake.

There’s a separate market for OEM’s.

 

Basically PC enthusiasts who want something on the Go.

That’s why OEM’s have been restricted to Handheld’s & Laptops so far.

 

Steam never greenlit SteamBox for this very reason!!

A console friendly demographic will never look at OEM.

& PC enthusiasts have no reason to buy a box under a TV.

 

Xbox is going this route out of necessity rather than innovation or strategy!!

They can’t leave the market cold turkey because of grown digital libraries which wasn’t an issue before PS4/XBone generation.

 

There are massive obligatory legal repercussions to suddenly leave ppl on their own(to assemble a PC)with these sort of digitally sold goods!!

 

& They can’t expect developers to make games on their dev kits either because of diminishing returns!!

 

 

Next best bet is an OEM Windows based PC which will bring all the past digital libraries over & also get future ports released for PC’s.

I hope Steam,Asus,LegionGo,Nvidia all enter the console box space along with handhelds & clouds.

 

There is a big void & Playstation monopoly is not good for anyone.

 

Steam obviously won’t allow Windows Store or GamePass officially though.

You mean console like interface and all?  I use Steam in Big picture. It works flawlessly with controller just like console. So its very much possible. 

 

Let's see how they do it. If done right and priced right, then its gonna be really good for consumers.

More than interface how they handle the drivers & optimisations is the key.

 

They need a dedicated team to optimise games for this specific spec.

 

Consoles are only popular because they have dedicated devkits & APi’s which lead to best possible hassle free experience.

No console gamer wants to deal with driver optimisations themselves.
