By stats you mean KD ratio right. So if it matches similar skilled players why are people against it? The only reason i can think of because it might not match the players from your region. This might be an issue for other MP games but for a title as popular as cod youll easily find similar skilled players nearby.

There are pros and cons to it

The pro is new players who don’t play as often as say the core people will not get bulldozed and will play with people who are ‘at their skill.’ We don’t know what factors sbmm takes into consideration but KD is one of them for sure. Helps Activision sell the game throughout the year as new guys who come in six months after launch don’t feel they’re behind

Cons are you never actually feel a sense of progression because every match you play is against people who are in your skill range and so it becomes a sweatfest

No. CoD is or was CBMM. Connection based matchmaking. Just put in you with team with best ping around you. Can have same skill or higher or lower. Matches are less sweaty. Lots of casuals.

SBMM is good but after a certain level you won't move up much and pretty much every match is going to be sweaty. Smurfs also rise.

It kills casual playerbase and which is why lots are complaining.

Most games have ranked playlist which is SBMM while QP/casual modes don't have SBMM.

Overwatch has an Elo rating system. Dunno if its the same thing as SBMM :scratchchin:

sweaty as in everyone in the lobby is tryharding. To put it in OW perspective - Ranked matches are generally sweaty, while quick play is a much more relaxed experience. ELO system is used by many competitive MP games to match similar skilled players in competitive matches.

I dont know how ELO is different from SBMM. If SBMM is implemented in quick play or non ranked playlists, tryhards wont be able to pub stomp often.

Not to mention most of us in India play at a ping disadvantage so playing an equal skilled player is no fun that way.

I'm still struggling with audio cues in the game. Its all over the place, the bullet sounds are so f**king bad

iirc, Destiny 1 struggled to maintain the PvP balance because of SBMM and the also being restrictive with the geo locale range in which they were search for those similar skilled players. It resulted in long queues. They increased the range and then laggy matches. It is really tough to have a really good balance with SBMM.

Overwatch is the most balanced ranked system I could think of that I played. The only problem OW has is smurfs(not alt accounts).

Essentially higher ranked match lobbies get more competitive players who're not playing casually, they're grinding to win and bump their stats or K/D.

It can get really annoying sometimes, 5 different people sitting in 5 different corners just pinging each other with snipers for minutes at a time. What you would like to do is go in ballista blazing, but you can't do that now because even if you kill 1 dude, more good players will immediately pounce on you to secure a free kill.

Its less fun, and a lot more competitive. Encourages camping in games like Apex.

Sbmm has always existed in cod but it’s been dialed up in the last two cods. I think it’s fair to casual players who don’t play it often.  The pros are crying because they can’t call in a chopper gunner every match. Anyway, it’s not like you will always have sweaty matches. Modern Warfare’s SBMM went by performance in last 5 matches and not overall so things to ease up if you’re not doing crazy well in 5 matches

SBMM has always been in cod games, but as the months go on, the matches are no longer fun, every match is sweaty.

Pro players whine because all they want is to pub stomp and make montages. They'll game the system to smurf/reverse boost to get shitty lobbies in order to make their ' OMFG GOT 30 KILLS WITH THE UZI, YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THIS SETUP' with their shocked faces as the video thumbnail

SBMM was only there for ranked modes and that is completely normal. Nobody cares about that. Adding SBMM outside ranked mode in public playlists is what makes people angry. AW had it previously and that died fast. BO3 added it later but community went mad and so devs removed it.

Nobody wants to sweat in 24/7 and especially not in non-ranked modes.
