India definitely lost an important member of its family. An irreparable loss to India if not the world.

There are lots of smart businessmen in the world but what set this businessman apart from others is that he didn't lead a flamboyant lifestyle, and contributed a lot of his wealth to charity. The latter is why he hardly has haters.

the Tatas  (& other industrialists) were also seen as the evil corporates & had just as many haters back in the day as ambani, adani etc have now.

Some people will say about it for any corporate because of their wealth and power.

Could you care to elaborate about the evils done by Ratan Tata? Sure he made some mistakes (Mistry appointment, Nano) but those arent intentional.

The Tatas are one of the rare decent industrialist families. If anyone asks for the best industrialist in India, it's Ratan Tata.  He care more for people than profits.

Go over the Radia tapes, thousands of adivasis killed, moved from their houses for Tata factories. Most of the philanthropy is held by his own companies (Tata Trust) and controlled by Tatas. Don't get into PR.

I don't know what industrialists people need to do to be counted as good human being?

They definitely shouldn't do any philanthropy, because this nation of ungratefuls would never find them good enough, no matter what they do.

@Bird Bird Bird This is bit petty to nitpick his failures/issues. Even we do some bad/questionable stuff in our lives. This is impossible to be perfect.

He has done a lot more good for the country than 99.9% of the people (including us). What I ask is we should be grateful for the things that he has done well.

And Ratan Tata, along with TISS lead to DV act, because of which millions of false cases are filed on men every day.

So you must be happy one evil person is dead now.  Guy has died and you all being such insensitive people posting bunch of crap like he personally harmed you or something.  Ratan Tata has done lot of good for public, no one said he saint, but his positive outweigh negatives. There's a reason he is beloved by millions. You will never see anyone care much about Ambanis or Adani but Ratan tata genuinely respected by public across the board in India and abroad.

What you feel about things isn't necessarily felt by others, especially those who suffered due to his actions. So those who want to mourn can mourn and those who don't can choose to do so. There are always two sides of a coin.
