METAL GEAR SOLID V - Ground Zero

 

 

 

Description

 

It is part of a sub-series of prequels in the Metal Gear series, taking place after Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Ground Zeroes stands alone as the first part of Metal Gear Solid V, acting as the prologue for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

 

The game follows Big Boss as he infiltrates a fictional American black site in Cuba called Camp Omega, attempting to rescue Cipher agent Paz Ortega Andrade and Sandinista child soldier Ricardo "Chico" Valenciano Libre.

 

 

 

Characters

 

Big Boss -> Voiced by English - Kiefer Sutherland, Japanese -Akio Ōtsuka .

 

 

 

Big Boss, real name John, also known as Jack, Naked Snake and Punished Snake, was a renowned special forces operative and mercenary commander. He founded U.S. Army Special Forces Unit FOXHOUND, along with the mercenary companies Militaires Sans Frontières and Diamond Dogs, and was one of the founding members of the Patriots. Big Boss later established the military states of Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land as bases for his companies, in order to realize his ambitions of creating a nation for soldiers. He was considered by many to be "The Greatest Warrior of the 20th Century" and a brilliant military leader, being hailed as a war hero by admirers, while feared as a tyrant by his enemies.

During the Cold War, Big Boss was an apprentice to The Boss, the so-called "Mother of Special Forces," and later served as a black ops field agent for the CIA's FOX Unit, under Major Zero.

Having his genetic code used as part of the government project Les Enfants Terribles, Big Boss was the genetic father of Solid Snake (his subordinate and later nemesis), Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake.

 

 

Kazuhira "Kaz" Miller -> Voiced by English - Robin Atkin Downes , Japanese-Tomokazu Sugita.

 

 

Kaz also Known as Mcdonall Benedict Miller and Master Miller, was second -in -command of Militaires Sans Frontières (French for Soldiers Without Borders; lit. Military Without Frontiers), abbreviated as MSF and also known as Outer Heaven and Diamond Dogs, and survival trainer of FOXHOUND.

 

 

 

Ricardo "Chico" Valenciano Libre -> Voiced by English - Antony Del Rio, Japanese -Kikuko Inoue.

 

 

Chico was a child soldier of Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) operating in Costa Rica in the early 1970s. He is Amanda's younger brother. He tries to prove himself to his sister and the FSLN rebels despite his age. An argument before the game begins results in Chico wandering around the forest and his capture by the Peace Sentinels. He also talks to Snake about sightings of the Peace Walker AI weapon (which he calls "El Basilisco"). Chico has an interest in cryptozoology,

 

 

Amanda Valenciano Libre -> Voiced by English- Grey DeLisle , Japanese- Romi Park.

 

 

 

Amanda Valenciano Libre is the older sister of Chico. She assumes command of the FSLN after her father (their leader) is killed. After many of her members were forced out of Nicaragua by government forces months before the events of the game, the KGB comes to the Sandinistas' aid by having them operate a banana plantation that is actually a front for drug-trafficking operations to generate funds for their rebel activities.

 

 

 

Paz Ortega Andrade -> Voiced by English- Tara Strong , Japanese- Nana Mizuki.

 

 

Paz, real name Pacifica Ocean, was a Cipher agent who infiltrated Militaires sans frontières during Peace Walker incident in 1974.

 

 

 

Dr . "Huey " Emmerich -> Voiced by English - Christopher Randolph, Japanese - Hideyuki Tanaka .

 

 

 

Dr. Emmerich , nicknamed "Huey " by his coworker Dr. Strangelove, is the future father of Hal Emmerich. A wheelchair-bound scientist who was born paraplegic due to having an abnormal spine. In addition to being the son of a Manhattan Project scientist, he was born on the same day as the Hiroshima attack. In Peace Walker, he and Strangelove are responsible for building the Peace Sentinels' AI weapons and later MSF's own Metal Gear ZEKE.

 

 

Skull Face -> Voiced by English - James Horan , Japanese - Takaya Hashi .

 

 

 

Skull Face is the commander of a mysterious Special Forces unit known as XOF who first appears in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. He is distinguished by his heavily scarred face, hairless head, and his choice of tailored suits over combat fatigues. His identity and nationality are unknown, and he claims to have forgotten his native language, though he is heard to speak Hungarian in a cassette recording. His injuries were sustained when a rapeseed oil factory his parents worked in was bombed on suspicion of manufacturing weapons, an incident he describes as an atrocity before admitting the suspicions were correct; he characterizes the incident as a case of the ends justifying the means.

 

 

David "Zero" Oh -> Voiced by English - Jim Piddock , Japanese - Banjō Ginga .

 

 

Major Tom ,Also known as Zero,was the original member of Unit FOX( FORCE Operation X ), is founding member of Patriots.

Could the Phantom Pain be the new Metal Gear Solid?

 

Update: According to Moby Dick Studio's official site, the Swedish developer's CEO is named Joakim Mogren, whose first name is an anagram for Kojima, as pointed out by EG commenter landlock.

 

Commenter DreadedWalrus added, "Mogren is a football club in Montenegro. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance opens in Montenegro."

 

Finally, commenter JeroenZM pointed out the screencap to the right from the Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes trailer, suggesting another connection to this mysterious new project.

 

And for less speculative news, Moby Dick lists PS3 and Xbox 360 as platforms it's developing for.

 

Original story: During the VGA a new horror game called The Phantom Pain premiered. It features a one armed man with a hook for a prosthetic left arm waking up in an asylum, where all the other patients are being murdered by mysterious soldiers.

 

Throughout the trailer we see this one-armed man from behind crawling through corridors and hiding under beds.

 

The strange thing is we never see his face and from behind his brown shaggy quasi-mullet, beard, and bandages wrapped around his head like a bandanna bear more than a passing resemblance to Metal Gear Solid protagonist Solid Snake. He also sneaks around a lot, we never see his face, and the last shot showed a floating soldier in the background that could have been a silhouette of infamous boss Psycho Mantis.

 

We also saw a helicopter surrounding the compound, a unicorn on fire, and what appeared to be a flying, flaming giant whale crashing.

 

The Phantom Pain is being developed by Moby Dick Studio, who appears to be a new outfit. We'll update this story as we find out more.

If that wasn't crazy enough, freelance writer Alex Rubens tweeted "There are people in the VIP section of the Konami party wearing Phantom Pain/Moby Dick Studios t-shirts."

 

"They aren't talking about anything. And no, they aren't Swedish," he added.

 

Elsewhere Geoff Keighley tweeted that The Phantom Pain is a never before revealed game i.e. not Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. "The Phantom Pain is an a completely game, nothing that has been shown before. I assure you of that," he wrote, possibly while inebriated.
