So, I've got my LCD all set-up and the first game I played was Heavy Rain......... It looked stunning....... Very very stunning.....!!!!!! I am totally speechless......

But I've got a question about the sound....... Why is it that some videos and games' (GTA IV) sounds are soooooooo low........ I had to play GTA IV with full-volume and then I was able to hear things properly, but still on the lower side....... :( But all other videos and games sounded better than ever........ Am I doing something wrong with the settings or something........??????

I have a 42" Plasma, 46" LCD and a 46" 3D LED TV in my house and I can assure you guys that picture quality in an LED TV is much better than that in Plasma. When watching Blu rays and other stuff, it is very difficult to differentiate in picture quality but when watching normal cable tv, you really realise how clear an LED TV is.

Watching football matches is much better on an LED TV than on a Plasma and I do watch a lot of football matches; so I believe I can give a good judgement on this. Movie viewing is almost the same in Plasma and LEDs. Not that big a fan of LCD TVs and if you go into minute details, then it is definitely a clear 3rd when compared to Plasma and LED. However, a few people here are saying that Plasmas are much better than LEDs after just fiddling with it in the showroom. You really have to own both the TVs and have daily usage on both televisions to realise which one is better or to make a reasonable judgement.

Not really. In fact, plasmas look pathetic in a showrooms' bright lights compared to LEDs/LCDs. So basically no one can get to convince people to buy plasmas by "fiddling" around in showrooms as LEDs obviously look better And with salespeople always putting LEDs at the best spots, it makes it harder for plasmas. Plasmas still produce the best blacks. Just keep and LED and Plasma switched off next to each other to see the difference. Picture reproduction is closest to reality and more natural in plasmas.

I'd say LEDs are close and comparable to Plasmas. LCDs are a distant 3rd. Although I completely agree that LEDs produce our SD content much better than plasmas.

I said that to people who are claiming that Plasmas are better than LEDs after fiddling with the LED TVs in the showrooms. One really has to have daily usage on both the televisions to make a fair judgement, that's what I meant. In showrooms, they usually never show SD content on LEDs and that is what we usually use the television for. I am a big fan of Plasma TVs and I do agree with everything you have also posted. But just trying out an LED TV in the showroom and saying it's not as good as plasma is kinda lame. Plasmas are known for their movie quality and for watching sports and those are the only things we see playing on LED TVs in the showrooms. The SD quality in LED is much better than that in a Plasma TV, including football matches.

Plasma all the way baby...

Going to buy the Panasonic P42V20D soon... Costs INR 72,500.

Although, if you are a LED fanboy, please go for Sony Bravia 40 inch EX710 for INR 79,999.

PS: Bit of gyaan here. LED TVs are not a different TV technology. TV industry just chose to confuse customers by replacing LCD with LED.

An LED TV is just an LCD TV with LEDs as the source for the backlight, whereas an LCD uses CCFL backlight.

So in essence, they are "CCFL-backlit LCD TVs" (LCD) and "LED-backlit LCD TVs" (LED)

It is always better to go for LED-backlit LCD TV for their obvious advantages. And I hate to say this, but they are catching up to plasmas in PQ.

As mentioned before there is a clear-voice setting that u can use to get the most out of the sound. Getting a separate sound system will help immensely with the sound experience but considering your doing down-payments for ur tele id wait :). Congrats on the purchase btw.

Can you post some impressions please? I am thinking of getting the same model.

hi, we were almost sure of getting that panasonic but at the last moment decided on this instead. Even i dunno when it changed, dad went for it. 50 inches alright but now samsung. It was/is cheaper than the panasonic model and so far i am liking it. havent fiddled around a lot though, to get the optimal picture quality.
