Was busy over last weekend so couldnt go for Alien and now dues to some south movies releasing this week, idiots dont even havea proper IMAX show listed for Aliens this weekend. Even the regular shows are very few. Managed to get a 4DX at a decent time slot for Sunday. Ab BC alien darayenge bhi aur seat bhi uchalenge.

They changed tactics after her initial interviews. Watch this video, it popped in my feed after I watched the trailer

That Rock's eyebrow raising move by Snow white is highlighted here :giggle:

Honestly, I don't know if this 'woke' movement is necessary or not, but changing the stories and characters of legendary movies is absolutely ridiculous, even if the intention is to correct historical injustices and make historically excluded groups feel welcome. We just need new stories, and that can happen without changing everything that was already beautiful

Saw Romulus, goddamn two hours of butt clenching and elevated heart rate. Glad I didn't take my dad with me

Seen it thrice now. Its does nothing for taking Alien story forward, but is super good standalone Alien movie. Pays homage to all the 4 Alien movie - I butt clencbed during the last 20 mins.

Alien storyline is f**ked anyway so I'm glad its a self contained movie. But it does somewhat answer why the company wanted these creatures in first and second movie.

I saw it twice and enjoyed it both times. Amazing experience in imax. The last creature is creepiest I have ever seen in such a mainstream movie.

Also the actress is damn cute 🥰

Storyline isn't f**ked if you go by the comics published by Dark Horse - which were a mix of action and philosophy (some with amazing dialogues and deep philosophical discussions).

After Marvels acquisition, the focus has been on action primarily - and they have done decently well tbh. The standalone comics are pretty nice (Icarus, Alien Red White and Blood etc).

What I didn't like about Romulus is it tried to shove everything in our face - facehuggers, Xenomorphs, black goo, that form which I don't wanna spoil, but it didn't do anything memorable tbh. Alien 1 was a triumph in horror with just a single Alien, 2 was action oriented (focus was still Aliens), 3 is best left forgotten, 4 had the infamous humanoid Alien. Even Prmoetheus introduced the Black Goo, Covenant continued with Synths being evil - Romulus really had nothing standing out. It was a good mix of whatever came before - but not unique enough vs all other Alien movies in the franchise so far.

Even lacked the "shock" value vs other movies (Alien's chest bursting, Alien 4's humanoid form, Space Jockeys in Prometheus, Covenant's back bursting + David doing the unthinkable with Elizabeth were genuine horror and shock scenes).

I love the cinematography and use of lights - plus the actors were brilliant. Andy is crazy good - it fills the Alien itch after all these years - but I wished it did more with the Xenomorphs (facehuggers scene was brilliant) than just giving them some airtime throughout the movie.

From the movies point of view alone the story is done after Aliens. Alien 3 undoing everything Aliens did makes it non-canon in my book. Imagine when Newt slipped down in the shaft and Ripley said "ah sh*t, oh well sucks to be you" and left :lol:The outcome would be exactly like Alien 3, except Ripley not having queen inside her.

Isn't it set after Alien, but before Aliens ? https://time.com/7010555/alien-romulus-franchise-timeline/

Quote

Set roughly 20 years after Alien, which takes place in the year 2122, and about 37 years before James Cameron's 1986 Aliens, set in 2179

I was talking from audience POV though - great mix of horror and thriller, but weak on shock value for fans of Alien franchise. Plus quite a few artisitic liberties to push the story - specially when Rain comes to rescue Andy in Xenomorph infested area, and literally no Xenomorph shows up ? Xenomorphs making grunting sounds while stalking their prey and running towards Rain and Andy - like WTF ? Isn't that quite different from being the perfect organism in Alien and Aliens ? Entire Aliens movie had less grunting Xenomorphs than small section of Romulus. Except two scenes - one, where Xenomorph is waiting for Kay/Tyler to open the door, and two - when Xeno saves Rain from gravity reset (since there's a facehugger around) - they have been dumbed down quite a bit.

The characters were quite memorable - Bjorn/Navvaro/Tyler/Andy/Rain - played their parts perfectly. So many similarities between Rain and Ripley, and the scene where she comes out of the lift shaft (trying to save Andy) with gun in hand was super nostalgic of a similar scene with Ripley. Cinematography and vibe are executed so well.

Yeah I mean it ended with Aliens and Ripley nuking LV-426. Romulus (and Isolation) fits perfectly between movies.

Prequel movies is whole another story, based on how much weed Ridley Scott is smoking at the time of writing script.

The movie is pretty stupid in most scenarios, don't try to find logic in it lol. Just enjoy the thrill. Pitch meeting has pointed out the obvious stupidity:

Wtf they actually showed her instructing dwarves to clean up :roflroll:

Watch from 3:11 onwards. A girl has created a comparison video.

I dont see any problem with changing scenes like the cleaning one, to be honest I agree with the intention behind it. I just dont like what they did with the casting of snow white. Shes not ugly but she's fking no way snow white material. Thats the main problem imo.

The other thing is tht they're trying to change the culture of a society completely-for what? To make things right? Is it about equality or payback? Its possible to make things right without asking for payback. But it seems Disney wants people to ask for payback rather than equality. Just bring new talent, new stories to make others feel welcome and equal, no need to fking change the entire culture.

Im seeing this everywhere nowadays, where people seem more interested in payback than equality and maybe disney wants to capitalise on it.

The snow white trailer... Are we supposed to believe Gal Gadot is jealous of that girls looks?!

Gal Gadot's left leg peeking out of her overcoat in WW1 is more appealing than the snow white girl :/

This video popped up in my feed. This guy sounds harsh but explains it well. That clip of a black guy getting pissed off on Assassin's creed shadow trailer was eye opening.
