Don't see that happening. At least not the Gamepass in its current form which has 3rd party games. It will literally cut into Sony's own subscription and reduce the money Sony earns as royalties from 3rd party games on its platform. I have said this a thousand times. GamePass in it’s current form can’t come to PS,Nintendo or Steam. It’s foolish to even think that a first party ecosystem would allow another company to buy third party content & give it away for peanuts on their own platform. It kills sales & royalty… For example why would Sony want ppl to play Lies Of P through GamePass & not Purchase it on their store to kill their 30% royalty?!? The whole principle idea of GamePass was to kill sales & royalty of other competing platforms & run them dry of revenues. Coz that was the only way M$ could dominate in the long run as they had the capacity to continue without fund flow unlike others. But thanks to regulators that timeline was turned into ~15years…..not even M$ is going to adopt gamers for this long!! Also Sony,Valve & Nintendo would never want their gamers to taste even the slightest version of GamePass….get used to it & buy into the ecosystem for more. It’s just nonsensical to think they will ever let M$ in specially how it’s been made clear that their intention is to kill business rather than do business in gaming. playstationdude
Probably a subscription service with only xbox first party games, although it would make a lot more sense for MS to ditch gamepass and just release software if they were to go 3rd party only (seems very unlikely)
AnK
6 minutes ago, playstationdude said: Probably a subscription service with only xbox first party games To be honest these games are not that important to Playstation that they would risk introducing something like GamePass in whatever form on their ecosystem. It’s a huge risk of ppl getting a taste of freebies & then wanting the full version through buying an Xbox/PC. Also the only game in sight which is planned exclusively & can put a dent is ElderScrolls 6 & that is like good 5-7 years away. So I don’t think any game in near sight is any significant loss for Playstation that they would shake hands with the devil.

I think M$ has lost any chance of getting ppl tempted & buy an Xbox. The plan was really good but mismanagement of studios once acquired & regulatory pressure on ABK has ruined that for M$. Waiting next generation or two more & handing free cakes to ppl just doesn’t make economical sense.
zoord
It's kinda crazy from Sony perspective. They took both Microsoft and Sega out of the console market. That's completely insane to think about. GoW and GoW on same console.. Halo on PS just sounds weird. I never thought I would see this day so soon I expected them to release stuff after 1-2 year on PS. Edited February 5 by zoord
AnK
If there was any chance that all this wasn’t true than M$ or Team Xbox would have issued a statement by now. Them keeping quite & letting the most loyal Xbox shills, journalists & bots getting hammered on the internet to the point of desperate switch to keep existence afloat is a straight sign that they just don’t care about them anymore. They want spent money back asap instead of waiting. Edited February 5 by AnK
zoord
Can someone explain why MS adopted this drastic plan? Why fight a long trial against Sony over Activision if this was the endgame plan? I also read soon they will increase the gamepass price too. This leaked before the Xbox Direct and all things came true since then. They didn’t contemplate what would be the outcome of all these acquisitions & specially the legal battle for ABK acquisition. Most of the other studios they acquired have shown little to no fruits till date & they started way back in 2017. They got really desperate with the ABK deal as they would loose 3-4 billion more for absolutely nothing in an attempt to revive an already massively money sinking ship that was Xbox. So they decided to do anything necessary to get the deal done & went to the extent of signing 10-15 year commitments. Sony,Niveda & Google went as far as they could to make sure their platforms don’t get affected in any which way.
zoord
Some are saying its Satya Nadella decision to stop their gaming division from bleeding money. Phill Spence was the biggest hack all this time. I suggest everyone to sell Xbox Series X/S while it still has some value since I heard they will raise gamepads price as well. To think I was contemplating buying XSS.. He had a similar decision to make when he took over as CEO, most of MS’s products at that time were exclusive to Windows PC or mobile. Satya realised it was not working and decided to release its products on any and every device possible. He seems to be planning something similar for Xbox now. triggr happy ss
Last generation for xbox hardware , good only ps6 for me nextgen. Like i wanted shocking part is its happing midway through this gen ,when i thought they will drag till the end atleast. Gp is amazing and hopefully stays ,its insane value and will be missed by all users if the plug is pulled. Only thing that kept me to this ecosystem since the start of the generation and also halo mp. Ms has different aspiration unfortunately for console users like me it means killing the hardware. Sony home console without a competing xbox console doesnt sound like an ideal situation ,but have to deal with it coz they will take us for a ride now even more than before. Never trust big corporation ,its funny how quickly things change in a blink of an eye. Expecting xbox to announce its plans today and pappu to exit soon.
