The TV Decision Making Thread

Was browsing through Twitter and came across this:

I've tweeted at them to confirm whether it'll come to CX also or not. Don't think they'll reply, though.

I hope it does, though.

It'll be a pretty sh*t move if it works in DV ONLY on the GX. It's high time that the Disney+Hotstar webOS app gets support for 4K/HDR/DV, regardless of the model of the TV.

You can have a kid before Hotstar decides to improve their app for WebOS.

If there is any consolation, they aren't giving 4K on TizenOS too.

f**k this sh*t, watching loki in HD!

I don't think a UPS is needed to protect from power surges. I use surge protector sockets like this one for the tv and ps5 - https://www.amazon.in/dp/B007T5S0G0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BJ0Y36GP5G7N1HNZ3816

I guess this should suffice?

Oh yeah I am using the same kinda thing for my TV/PS5. Hope it does its job.

Facing a crisis here.

My current Samsung TV is on the verge of death. Something is probably wrong with its power supply or maybe the IC cause it randomly turns on and off on its own sometimes. This goes on for hours and then it works perfectly for a few days. This gets annoying pretty fast when it starts happening in the middle of a gaming session.

Had shown it to a technician a couple of times but he couldn't find an issue. He even kept it at his store for a day or so.

My plan was to wait and buy a good 50K TV as the replacement but that's not currently possible, at least not till 2022. I'm thinking of buying a 1080 monitor as a temp measure. I can't spend much on a temp. 1080 monitor, maybe max 15K or so.

A TV in that range won't be good, especially for gaming.

Something like this: https://www.amazon.in/LG-Ultragear-Gaming-Monitor-Freesync/dp/B07S146CB6/ref=asc_df_B07S146CB6/?tag=googleshopdes-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=397083069542&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17140922734554834505&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007761&hvtargid=pla-811335892987&ext_vrnc=hi&th=1

What are my options?

It's a TN panel. If you don't play online games much then I believe you can compromise on refresh rate. I would advice either VA or IPS panel for a monitor.

I thought IPS panels were slower than TN in terms of response time. I do sometimes game online (Rocket league and such)

I found this: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07R7636MH?tag=tech_insider_india_buynowbluebutton-21&th=1

But this is way over the budget.

Do you have some recommendations in mind?

Does anyone know the brightness nits of Mi QLED tv?

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Saw few videos of its comparisons with one plus Q1 (which has 350 nits ) and they all said it's brightness was less compared to one plus Q1 . So it should be around 300 nits

But anything above 600 nits only come in TV's above 1 lakh . Budget TV's will always have some limitations

Wait for TVs in range of x90H and Samsung Frame to get cheaper and better. They do a good job.
