I think mini-LED (an advanced form of fald) as found in the recent iPad is much better than OLED. Should watch out for those TVs. What do you think?

I think mini-LED will further be succeeded by micro-LED, which I think will be the perfect middle ground for decent enough peak brightness and almost near-perfect blacks.

In case anyone is confused with all the monikers.

Afaik miniled and microled are just totally different.

Miniled is just fancy fald and microled is positioned as the successor to oled?

Also, Samsung is also working on QNED displays but that'll take time I guess.

Yeah, they are different. What I meant was that micro-LED will be the next big thing after the OLED and micro-LED phase.

Mini LED just reduces the size of the standard LEDs but it can close the gap down to the OLED very significantly. A well done Mini LED TV (just like in new Ipad Pro) might be a great alternative because of its price.

While Micro LED  just like OLED, are self illuminating. Plus they are made up of non-organic material which means it can get brighter and no-burn in but it's costs a bomb right now. $150k for 110" so that is wayyyy in future.

Does micro-led have organic matter like oled?

I’ve read that mini-led had advantages of both fald and oled, so it’s superior to both

edit: got it. So it’s

micro > mini > oled > fald

A bit more nuanced than that.

micro > if mini is well done >≈ oled

else

> oled > mini > fald

But the mini LED is significantly closer to OLED than a FALD.

Oled has some permanent deficiencies which mini does not have. Mini also has the strengths of fald and very close to oled, in effect making mini > oled, don’t you think?

That is true but when talking about in just PQ sense, OLED will edge out.

Obviously, preference wise mini-led will probably take the cake.

Looks like we have users with real world experience of mini-led already here. Time to lower the OLED flag down to 2nd class citizenship.

Team Mini Led, we yield !!

If you don't follow Linus, he is one of the biggest supporters of OLED and LG.

Such praise coming from him really shows what a well-done Mini-LED TV can achieve.

It's almost as dark, equivalent contrast and PQ but considerably brighter. No burn-in possibility.

Price is equivalent to OLED but I am sure that with future generations and the competition this will bring to the market, prices will come down across the board.

Really excited to upgrade in 2022.

mini-led has nearly the same deep blacks as oled but gets insanely bright, no burn-in due to organic material degradation in oled

it's just better
