VATS is in fallout series… they didn’t “remove” it from starfield because it was never there …

 

I am personally glad it’s not there because it would have slowed down the combat..

Also I feel they shouldn’t have removed the VATS system….that’s what separates an RPG from Shooters.

 

It has all the trappings of an RPG. Much more than Fallout 4. Stealth kills, turn enemies against one another etc. 

 

VATS system was a necessity in Fallout 3, here combat is fun without it as well.

Just killed an enemy 8 levels above me yesterday. I was lvl 4, he was 12. Didn't feel overly spongy. You just need to stay out of their gun fire. But if course if level is full of those it would be extremely hard.

 

If you want to kill enemies 8 level above you, you can't be a noob. Games don't work that way.

Something similar has always been in WRPG’s & JRPGs

 

Be it ElderScrolls,MassEffect,Fallout,Witcher or even FF15 & FF7R.

 

So it’s not really a Fallout thing per se..

 

It’s the RPG thing of stopping time & planning your attack…

 

But yes this game is a Fallout Clone so that’s why I used the term “VATS”.

 

If you think it’s not a Fallout Clone then that’s your prerogative,please don’t come at me & start an argument in this thread….

Have you played Mass Effect & Witcher 3?!?

 

Both have time stopping mechanics to use Items/signs or weapons/bombs.

 

So does FF15 & FF7R…

 

Can’t remember Skyrim properly but I vaguely remember some sort of similar gameplay mechanism.

They slow down time. Don't stop it like VATS. If you want to slow down time, there could be something in skill tree, i will check.

Even VATS only slows down time in FO4…..doesn’t really stop it completely like FO3!!

VATS take away your ability to shoot and determines your damage based on dice roll. It's effectively a turn based game system in FPS rpg. 

 

No game has that, that I have played. I have played most of those you listed.

I know exactly what it is & how it’s different from each game according their own mechanics.

 

But saying this “turn based” time stopping/slowing is exclusive to Fallout & it’s VATS system is not true.

 

Similar things are fairly common in all kinds of W/Jrpgs.

 

It’s not really a “Fallout thing” is all I am saying.

I was carrying a contrband item, got scanned by the UC and got a bounty on my head. Dropped the item in a free zone, grav jumped to an FC system, cleared the bounty, went back to the free system and the contraband item was still there. Picked it up and sold it.

 

This f**king game! :majesty:
