Frankly even I was surprised they didnt use the same style in FF16. Personally love DMC and absolutely excited for ff16 combat, but I do agree the FF7 remake combat is much more suitable for Jrpgs

I'm glad they didn't use any of the turn based combat from FF7 remake in FF16. It's good that they shifted from old school combat system due to hardware limitations to high fidelity, huge scale, fast paced combat mechanics when you're actually at the edge of your seat rather than taking a minute with each move. I hope this game does well which will take a new course in future FF combat system.

Exactly. This is a JRPG, has always been. It is not an action game and it is a shame that this is the direction they took. We don't have many AAA JRPGs anyway whereas there are loads of ARPGs

Dude wut? Ff7 remake does not have turn based combat. There is an ATB system that fills up as you attack (real time) and atb allows special moves. Its a psuedo commad based combat and plays perfect

I've played that game mate, yes it's not like the OG turn based it's a mix match but leaning more towards real time action basically makes it an ARPG, similarly you switch characters, enter into battle mode each time, built very much on party work like in turn based, enter tactical mode to pause the game and make a move. Feels old school and new at the same level.

It's seamless in FF16. Substantial, mature and fun!

Well, there is sex:fear1:

 eikon battles look epic, ngl

Just because it is action gameplay, doesnt make it more mature. As I have said, likes of FF6 and Chrono Trigger have more depth in their gameplay then something like FF15 can ever dream of having. They actually require you to think and strategize instead of mindless automated button mashing which requires no skill whatsoever. Lets see how gameplay is here. Anyway, last comment from me on gameplay till game comes out

Dropping my 5cent here.

Personally, ok with the path FF16 took, it stands out from FF7Rs mix of turn based and active battle system(absolutely loved this), so adds a bit of variety. That said, I wouldn't have mind if they did go with the same battle system.

But we probably won't ever see pure turn based gameplay in FF like we did in FFX and earlier titles.

Stop posting SE

Just give us the game, 2 months waiting for this is too much.. :wOOtjumpy:

Is this stuff scripted or realtime?

I will be disappointed if they made QuickTime heavy stuff like this. Needs to feel good while controlling.
