Where were they when a whole game was bought off as exclusive? ex: Titanfall. They just have to deal with it! Keeping parts of a game exclusive is the issue here ,when other platforms will be paying the same price. Its need to stop Since its anti consumer and we have seen enough of it from both xbox and ps in the past already. No one is talking about exclusive games or timed exclusives here. 1

Microsoft buying a studio to develop or make a game exclusively is different from Sony strong arming the people interested in playing a 3rd party game to choose between Xbox and PS4. Especially when it's a major character like Spider-man. Regardless of the quality of the game and the character, this is a dick move. Like Joe said, this means Spider-man won't serve a major role in the game.

And yes, he wouldn't be having a major role/ story impact which might suck but may be the Avengers game's story itself doesn't rely on SpiderMan. SO this would just be an optional story with no major impact in the game's plot (AND hence given away for free). So in short people would not be missing much . dylanjosh
Got from a tweet: Sony fanboys having more fun celebrating this exclusivity than they ever will actually playing the game 30 minutes ago, Pacifier said: While the exclusive news might not be great but weren't the Xbots hoping that Microsoft buys WB games and make Batman exclusive to Xbox? Making parts of a game exclusive is a net loss for everyone, including Playstation owners. Like Joe Cool said, it means Spideys part will be heavily diluted. And this is Spider-Man!! Not just a skin or some rando weapon exclusive, could have been a great character to add to the line-up and added substantially to the overall game quality. Spider-man is an Avenger. In the comicverse, his role is huge. To make him a side character is a shitty move and a wasted opportunity to do something great with the character. How are people not missing much? Bro, it's Spider-man! People have bought PS4s just to play the 2018 game. It's a huge selling point and the character has had a huge fan following even before Avengers became a Hollywood blockbuster franchise. Making him a side character is just Sony flexing and is bad for all parties involved.

They don't own game rights, but there's going to be backdoor deals if Marvel wants to use Spidey in their movies. Sony Pictures can always pickup their Spidey bag and leave, and continue to make their own standalone movies. I bet they're strong-arming Disney/Marvel for game rights and poor Crystal Dynamics got caught in the middle
playstationdude
What about the fact MS kept 4k enhancements exclusive for xbox on Outer worlds? Or does this logic only apply when its Sony? Edited August 4, 2020 by playstationdude

Except crossovers or big events, Spider-Man has never been a consistent Avenger, hell he wasn't an Avenger till the 90s. He was an on and off member. So just assuming he was a side character only because Sony has rights doesn't make much sense.

I am not much familiar with Marvel Universe as others but may be he just doesn't have a role in the plot they have planned. And the only reason why they are having it as add-on? You have answered it yourself . He Sells 17 minutes ago, CtrlAltDev93 said: Bro, it's Spider-man! People have bought PS4s just to play the 2018 game. You'd think the premise of the game, where Avengers have gone from heroes to villains in the public eye, would qualify as a "big event". CarbonCore
I think people will not outrage when FF16 is announced to be 1 year PS5 exclusive, since moneyhatting 3rd party timed exclusive is not anti-consumer anymore. Right?

F4 can show up in either and if Sony had movie rights to them, they'd probably be exclusive in-game too.
KnackChap
When microsoft money hats content and games then they go f**k yeah #ibelieveinphilspencer, they have billions of dollars to burn etc etc. This is the same company that had a parity clause with game developers on Xbox one so that games on ps4 won't be superior. Anyways enjoy you optimised for xbox boxart.

He's probably the most popular perhaps rivaled by Batman and Superman. Not the point. We are talking about storylines and whether Spider-man was reduced to side character only because Sony said it. At the moment, Spiderman is probably the best character Marvel has with Cap and Iron Man gone. Then why was he allowed in Marvel Ultimate alliance game on switch? Sony could have easily blocked it. They're probably expecting 10+ mil units sold soon after launch. Still if they had exclusive rights, they could have easily made some money off Spider-Man from Switch game. That game was hyped to moon on switch.
