And somewhere i feel, a lot of fraud/low quality products/sellers have grown in numbers...Hum to mandir ka ghanta hai.. auo bajao type. But it could be cause of the USB card. That USB card is pretty useless cause none of the features like the THX support transfer over to consoles. As you said it was good with 3.5 mm on xbox should be good on ps4 as well. As for M40x or M50x, they are good for music but i have used them for gaming and they aren't great. Only reason I didn't connect the headphone to the Dual Sense was not willing to charge the controller more often, the headphone's power demand could be additional stress on it.
