The Playstation 5 thread

Humanoid Origins, the studio launched in 2021 by former BioWare general manager Casey Hudson, is closing. Hudson announced the closure in a message posted to LinkedIn, saying that "despite efforts to shield the studio from broader challenges in the industry, an unexpected shortfall of funding left us unable to sustain operations."

Hudson announced Humanoid Studios, as it was originally known, in June 2021, just six months after his surprise departure from BioWare. In 2022, he revealed the studio was working on a "multi platform AAA game, focusing on character-driven narrative in an all-new science-fiction universe," which sounded like a natural fit: During his long tenure at BioWare, broken up by a three-year split from 2014 to 2017, Hudson led the development of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the original Mass Effect trilogy.

But while Hudson said the studio had a "playable prototype" in July 2022, nothing beyond a few pieces of vague concept art was ever shown publicly. Hudson said the studio is "heartbroken that we will not be able to bring our new science-fiction universe to completion," adding that the focus now is on supporting employees "in their transition to new employment."

Casey Hudson's studio shut down. :( Dont know about Bioware's state considering DA's poor commercial reception.

Only Exodus is left to get the spiritual sequel of Mass effect.

Ok So PSSR isn’t really working good for pre built engines with Inhouse upscaling solutions embedded within the Engine.

So I think PS5pro isn’t really that attractive of a deal as I initially thought it to be….Like PS4pro.

Which was upscaling & enhancing LOD through & through for all Games.

I will wait & watch before deciding my purchase.

Wait, will this get warranty or not ? 800$ down the drain or can it be repaired?

Spending close to 75k on a electronic product without any warranty seems odd to me.

As far as I know,  with Grey market it's no warranty! If the seller is good and legit, he might find a way to ship the console abroad to get it repaired- but most won't bother! It's an imported unit where you don't know the source store so risk is on you! At least if you're traveling abroad and importing/having relatives bring from abroad you can ship console to seller/Sony Center abroad on your own and ask him to repair - here you're on your own!

You can try your luck with 3rd party repairs and get it repaired though! Assume that there's no warranty in 1st place and you might/might not get official parts

Too much trouble just for a little better experience. Just wait for the official release.

I usually dont buy expensive stuff especially tech on launch day due to these issues. Also there are no new games.

There are no reported widespread issues with PS5pro so far.

Seems like a one off case….if at all.

Could be also to attract attention….who knows these days with dime a dozen influencers.

But yeah I do agree that there is no point in buying Pro right now….specially if you don’t really have a large…HDMI 2.1 VRR Display.

One should go for that first.

Or there is a specific game that one wants to experience in pristine fidelity.

GoY,DS2,GTA6,Wolverine releases would be the right time to go for Pro.

Don't you want to play all these games enhanced by pissr tech?

Where?!?

Please share more…..

Specific to PS5pro or overall PS5 issue?!?

EDIT:-

Looks like you are talking about PS5 in general as this is years old:-

This ain’t really PS5pro specific & every hardware has some form of minute faults in general.

If buying OOR with no local warranty then that risk in some minute percentage always exists….

Nothing new or worth noting…..
