TRMNTR
1 hour ago, Sach4life said: Its not just cutting down the extra fat by all the tech companies. Have seen so many posts of people who were their with the company for more than 10 years and got laid off just like that. Earning billions of profits in a single quarter and doing such things, they fully deserve whatever criticism they get. They absolutely do. Their 2022 numbers are supposed to be less than 2021 but more than 2020 (because first mass hiring then mass firing) but this is what the numbers look like for Sony, MS and Nintendo... Spoiler Not my stats. Please don't kill me if they're inaccurate. Edited February 8 by TRMNTR

Not sure what is the point of these charts, but ok. My point was regarding all the big tech companies in the world such as MS, Google, Amazon, FB, etc. Nothing specific to do with gaming.. They closed a lot of studios and divisions during that period. Talk about comparing apples to oranges You started it.

In some cases it might help games which wouldn't have sold anyway, but largely, it would obviously have an impact on sales.
radicaldude
Nintendo has silently increased prices for 2023 switch titles. From $60 to $70. Switch is not even current gen and will now see $70 games. Where are the people who lambasted Sony for the price rise. WOnder where will they hide now. Nintendo Switch is not big enough to hide behind. Do keep in mind the generational leap as well. Sony's PS5 games are $70. Nintendo's last gen games will now be priced at $70. Purposefully not launching a new (more powerful console) and expecting current gen prices for games meant for last gen console is not cool! Yeah at least wait for fking next gen Also the problem with Nintendo $70 is they'll remain $70 forever except for couple weeks per year when they go on sale. Sony (and other publisher) games never hold $70 after first couple of months so its a non-issue. Watch Indian prices also bump to 5k-5.5k.

Not breaking the bank by paying 400-500 extra for a first party game, maybe 4 times a year. Plus prices invariably go down once the initial euphoria has died. Not much will change if someone can wait 3-4 months to play a first party game. 15 minutes ago, radicaldude said: Do keep in mind the generational leap as well. Sony's PS5 games are $70. Yaar tumhe khelna hai nahi - pas pareshaan hote rehte ho. Most games coming from HK/EU will not be impacted much IMO. Second hand market will thrive further. With Switch sales dipping, there is hope that a new console might launch next year.
radicaldude
Price of marquee nintendo titles dont fall (as much as ps physical games), even for second hand titles. Zelda botw still retails for around ~3.3k
CarbonCore
Just buy vouchers and buy first party games through that. Though I'm sure voucher prices will go up too.
