How does one check what framerate the game is running on ? Is there any option in the TV?

To be honest its not super accurate, the new C1s has some game interface which is supposed to show the FPS.. On CX it shows Hz which some ppl are thinking as FPS... regardless its a much much better experience on the SONY games that has VRR patched..

Ignore.

Just turn on VRR on the games that support/need it.
You can easily find on google.

It’ll just improve performance….specially & significantly on the ones which have official developer patch for it.

Or mostly the ones that have a performance mode which waver between 48-60fps.

Also the games that are too low on fps or are fix locked on 60fps,just keep it turned off as it compromises some other TV effects which shouldn’t be compromised needlessly.

You get LFC with good displays that goes below set limit of 40-48 hz on consoles.

LFC is only developer supported on PS5…not System wide.

(So far only in Insomniac games)

also LFC is no substitute to VRR.

It’s very insignificantly or marginally better than a regular output which is wavering in 40’s range.

It’s always better to have a locked frame rate in that range unless the developer is doing something that Insomniac has done.

Weird. Even 120 fps support is not system wide on PS5. You wouldn't get benefits of low latency 120 fps displays on all games.

120hrz* not fps (you mean)

As I said the difference is so insignificant that no developer as ever offered an unlocked fidelity mode on SX so far….despite it offering a 120hrz.

So unless the developer patches VRR/LFC into the game code like Insomniac has done….or maybe Flight Simulator has done.

It’s of no use really.

No game on SX practically makes use of LFC apart from Elden Ring in quality mode maybe.

But still the VRR implications are so much better that everyone will opt for Performance mode on both SX & PS5.

I mean delivering a game in 120 fps package so display consider it as 120 fps material, which results in far lower latency and higher responsiveness. It's immediately noticeable.

This is irrespective of actual fps of the game.

PS5 has that but the VRR range is 48-120fps

just like in 60hrz which is 48-60fps.

It just does not has LFC which needs to be added by developer on their end.

No system wide setting to activate 120 fps on ps5 afaik.

It has to done in game. Discussed this at length with a dude here. I think it was @Nikushimi

Yes if a game does not support 120hrz mode PS5 can’t push into it on its own.

SX can.

But as I said it’s not recommended unless you are actually achieving 90 or something fps.

The added motion blur effects are just not worth it if it’s something 40fps range.
(I have just said what I have heard/read)

Obviously someone with first hand experience would know more.

That would make much hyped 40 fps mode useless. Lmao.

At 120 fps responsiveness is something else.

If there are any issues they have to be considered on game by game basis. In all games i prefer 120 fps mode except a couple.

I think you aren’t getting my point completely.

120hrz mode & VRR/LFC when patched into the code of the game officially by the developer is flawless experience.
(Insomniac games)

But a 120hrz system level mode trying to make a 30 or 40 or even a 45fps game won’t bring in same results…..far from it actually.
