Are you sure about that prediction?

The original PS5 is more expensive now than it was at launch.

Those are just buzz tags flashing to keep up the value….no one is buying at that price.

That's official price, goes as low as 40k almost every month.

40 k from 70k by next year and that also in India? lol.

Ank charas phoonk kar type karta hai ignore him lol.

Abbey chewza jaisa baat mat kar….

PS5slim launched for 55k last year & within 6-9 months it was 43-39k.

I’m still giving it a full year.

These things are not selling at MRP & that’s quite evident around the world.

Just give it some time & I hope no one here makes the stupidity of buying it at launch…..just doesn’t make sense rn.

Also means whenever PS6 launches, their reference price is 700 USD now. Wow gaming is getting super expensive.

Yes & this is the biggest take away by the entire internet last night.

No official price cuts on PS5,SX were an indication already….

Also the abomination which is SX 2tb model at $600 with f**ckin not even a design change

Great thing I’m a backlog guy now & even bought PS5 1.5 years after launch.

This cycle will suit me for every major system going forth.

Just to remind everyone….PS4pro was no sales King either.

Infact sold only a small fraction compared to PS4 in month over month once both were on shelves.

I hope this is easier to get in India at launch.

They probably have higher profit margin than base PS5. I mean it is sold to people who really want it above normal PS5, so why bother subsidizing it.

Yep it will be produced only in very limited quantity & will be disbanded once PS6 is about to be released.

All just like PS4pro.

Pro will sell big. Hardcore loyalists will buy it doesn't matter if there is value in it or not..PS brand popularity will sell it and Sony knows it.

Disc drive add on already sold out on Amazon US.

This is still cheaper than Building a high end PC.

Yeah demand will be certainly higher than PS4pro as this time the emphasis even in presentation was on 60 FPS rather than 4k like it was back in PS4pro release.

That time hardly anybody had 4k systems but today 60fps is a hugely sought after feature.

Plus I still think a $700 1tb where Disc Drive will be bundled will come out in no time as that would be the most sought after SKU.

ps5-pro-sales-forecast.jpg

VGC has reported that analyst research firm Ampere Analysis is predicting that the PS5 Pro will sell approximately 13 million units by 2029 despite the high price given to it by Sony

Quote

Research firm Ampere Analysis expects PS5 Pro sales to reach a similar level to those of PS4 Pro, despite the newly announced console's relatively high price point.

Sony used a technical presentation on Tuesday to finally unveil the long-anticipated PS5 Pro, which will launch in November priced at $699.99 / £699.99 / €799.99 / ¥119,980.

"The price point of the PS5 Pro will inevitably cause a lot of commentary," said Piers Harding-Rolls, research director for games at Ampere Analysis. "The price point differential between the PS5 and PS5 Pro is between 40-50%, which is significantly more than the differential between the PS4 and PS4 Pro at launch.

"In the US, the PS4 Pro launched at $399 and the slim PS4 was $299 at the time, a 33% differential. Additionally, the slim PS4 had a retail price of $299 having dropped from the original PS4 launch price of $399."

Nevertheless, Ampere expects Sony to sell around 1.3 million PS5 Pros during the console's 2024 launch window, compared to 1.7 million PS4 Pros sold at launch in 2016.

"We expect the price point to soften demand with some consumers, but for PlayStation enthusiasts the pricing is less of a consideration," Harding-Rolls suggested.

Lifetime PS4 Pro sales reached 14.5 million units, accounting for around 12% of total PS4 sales, according to Ampere's data. The firm is forecasting a similar dynamic for the PS5 Pro, with sell-through of around 13 million units by 2029.

The steep price is just an indicator of how well the PS5 is doing, sales wise.

This will drive the base PS5 sales even more as more people will buy the most affordable console now. And the Pros will be only for enthusiasts
